Power Steering Bracket for an Inline 6

How hard is it to get a complete power steering bracket for an inline 6? A buddy at work just bought a 72 long bed with an inline 6 and wants to put power steering on it.

Re: Power Steering Bracket for an Inline 6

If the motor is a 194, 230 or 250 they are around, but a little hard to find. Those engines also came in cars so there are more of them out there. If it is a 292, GOOD LUCK!! Those motors only came in 3/4 ton and up trucks and vans and power steering setups for those are rare. Start checking "big truck" junkyards for bobtails, step vans, etc.

Re: Power Steering Bracket for an Inline 6

I just listed one on the parts board several weeks ago. Unfortunately, it's only 1 of 3 pieces needed, but perhaps you can come up with the other 2 somehow.

I found one in a mid 70's (i think) Chevy van with a 250 at the Junkyard. Sold it on here for about $100

I think in 79 they were all using the integrated head and those are supposed to be different. I am using one from an integrated head on mine, which is not an integrated head, but I had to get the water pump pulley as well and move the balancer slightly because it sits 1/4 inch off, but after that it is perfect.

Ebay is the best source for these brackets. Expect to pay at LEAST $75 tho, otherwise hit the yards if you have any around your area.

Can anyone post some pictures of the brackets so we can look for the correct ones?

I have a set for a 292 if that's what you're looking for. I'll be using them on the burb. 250 set up is different.
I'll try to get some pictures posted. BTW I paid $20 for my set-up including the pump SCORE!!

Here is a pic of the bracket installed, but not the pump:

Here is a pic with the pump installed, this also shows what happens when you use a bracket from an integrated head 250.

What did the set-up originally come off of? Did you use the pulley's from the donor? Is your power steering pulley out of alignment by a full groove with regards to the WP pulley? A pic would be helpful.

My power steering pulley is out of alignment, like you staded above. What do I need to do to correct it?
