1990 daily driver build

I just purchased this truck about 3 weeks ago. My plan is to turn it into a daily driver. For the most part everything looks stock other than the wheels. My plans right now are to drop a crate motor in it since I bought it with a rod knocking. I plan on keeping the motor the stock TBI 350. Other plans include switching the wheels to 15Ē rallyís and doing either a 4/6 or a 3/5 drop. Coil overs not bags. Roll pan on rear and cab corners and rockers.

The first picture is the stock motor after dismantling the front. The second pic is the crate motor. Got it stabbed and starting putting it back together.

Re: 1990 daily driver build

Hopefully Saturday I will be able to start it up. I also got my cab corners and rockers delivered this week so I have plenty to do now.

Re: 1990 daily driver build

Well this weekend was a productive one. Got the motor all done and running Saturday night. I was having an issue with it overheating and the system would not pressure up. Found out it was the radiator cap. It purrs now.

Re: 1990 daily driver build

Pulled the bed off to work on the cab corners and rockers. One of the previous owners attempts to fix it was rather bad.

So the plan this week is to start drilling out spot welds on the rockers and get them removed.

That's some awful looking rust. Your truck will appreciate the new metal!

Re: 1990 daily driver build

I was going over the truck marking the dents and areas that needed fixed and noticed on both doors above and below the door handle was pushed in. It was very flimsy which bothered me so I took the door apart and found it was cracked.

Re: 1990 daily driver build

Well I found a guy on Facebook that sells parts for these trucks and was able to get a pair of doors for 140 bucks. Overall condition was very good. Couple of little spots.
