Just want to say hi. I am the proud owner of a former NC Wildlife 1990 Burb. I love it, its 4x4, has a 350 w/ TBI and a Winch mount through the front bumper and into the frame. I picked it up for 2k. Having problems with the doors though. Did the door strikers on these come with with some sort of a gasket around them ? My doors will shut but then pop out about a half inch. Also my front drive shaft seems wallowed out so I am looking for one of those. I replaced the heater core when I got it (oh for joy). Swapped the tires from an 85 , 4x4 K10 SWB

. I now need to fix the battery gauge. The truck has 116,000 miles and runs great. No ticks, shakes, or bumps. Anybody know where I can find a class three tow package that will bolt in with no drilling?

The door strikers should have a plastic sleeve around them, they wear out or fall off completely after time. You can get em at any parts store. Easy to do. You should be able get a bolt on trailer hitch from about all of the manufacturers, unless you have the 40 gal. fuel tank like I do, then the hitch will not go forward enough to fit in the factory bolt holes. If I remember right it's about 2" off.

the door striker just needsd adjusted loosen it up and move it out a lil and retighten that should do the trick they tend to move some over the years of being slammed

Howdy,and welcome.My Suburban was a municiple vehicle,too.You can try to find a factory hitch for a 40 gallon equipped Suburban.

welcome! I love my 91 R2500 as well, it does have the factory 40 gal tank with receiver hitch. Parts for these trucks should be pretty easy to come by but some are not cheap...

I will definitely be looking for a reciever hitch. I replaced all the striker bolt bushings today and ya know what ?! I can actually hear myself think in my burb now - talk about quiet !! Keep getting a whine in the rear end, have checked the ring and pinion and the bearings and nothing looks wrong. This is an awesome truck. I also put a TBI riser on it and a K&N Cold air intake on it which actually produced more response. I love driving it.

Heres the link, its a company in AZ called airaid. I put a riser on my jeep cherokee and it helped with gas mileage on it also.

Guys, a couple of questions:

1) what do the "striker bolt bushings" look like and is that the exact name you ask for as the auto store?? do they sell them at Oreilly's?

2) do the striker bolts move around?? I thought they just unscrewed and you had to adjust the door instead.

Hello,

On my 1991 Suburban I had a lot of door slop and latch problems. I solved
most of it by installing new hinge pins. There are farley cheap and a little dif-
ficult to install. I pulled the vehicle in my garage and held up the door
with a rope thru the window opening and then cut the hinge pins in half
with an air tool (grinder) rubber (1/8" thick) wheel. Worked very good.

I have a question I posed on another thread. Does anyone know
what the "horse power" rating is of my 1991 350 TBI engine.

Aggie,
I found my bushings at AUTOZONE. They were 4 dollars for four. They are gray plastic which goes around the striker bolt. You can move the striker bolts inward for a tighter fit but my doors kept bouncing and rattling so I left them in the orioginal spots and added the bushings, beware the front set of doors bushings will fall down so yuou have to remove the trimpiece in order to keep it from doing so. The bushings helped to quiet my burb immensely.
You will need a Torx 45 and a breaker bar to do this and a phillips screwdriver to remove the trimpiece.
