Re: Happy Halloween

We're going to have to turn the lights off this year, I ripped down the porch ceiling to install a tongue and groove ceiling and a lot of rework was required, so it took a lot longer than planned and the porch is a disaster.

I decorate the outside of the house. Even if no one stops for treats anymore.

I think we're ready. I'm out in the boonies so doubt I'll see anything but the neighbors kids.

I like a little of it, once in a great while. Problem is, it's too easy to dip into it and have just a few more.... and a few more after that.... and...

It's past 8:30, no kids in quite awhile, and I just turned the porch light off. Had a grand total of 12 kids tonight, and some of them were even in costume! Best one was a garbage can in front of the door. I didn't see anyone until the lid popped open and the kid inside said trick or treat! Then his buddies appeared from hiding.

Years ago we had more kids (over 100 once) until the local merchants started giving out candy downtown. Before that, there were a lot of jack-o-lanterns destroyed and a lot of eggs thrown. Things are quieter now.

Re: Happy Halloween

Our local towns shut down Main st and have what they call trunk or treat. I'm always at work and don't get to see any of it. My Wife went to my Son's last weekend in Denver and took a couple pictures of costumes she liked at an event in his neighborhood .

Re: Happy Halloween

Between helping with mom and doing house repairs, I haven't had anything to do with Halloween this year, which is a drag.

I love Halloween! I like to put up decorations, carve two pumpkins (always at least two), and give out candy.

No trick or treaters last year and yesterday I was up on a ladder painting my side window trim. My parents had 12 though, a large number for them.

Hopefully I can be ready next year.

Re: Happy Halloween

I boght three big bags of candy. We normally get over 100 kids. Last night we might have had 20 kids. I gave out hand full of candy. I didn't even go through a whole bag. It makes me wonder why it was so slow?

Sounds like me! I never went for anything but "real." I'd buy distributor-type boxes of Nerds and Caramels and give out full-sized bars. Later, when I let the Sam's Club membership go, I went to Krogers and bought packs of Hersey bars. A couple of years ago on Halloween things winded down and I was giving out whole packs of 6 full-sized Hersey Bars.

I am such a sugar addict, it's best for me to get rid of it fast.

Re: Happy Halloween

This was my first year at the new house. There's a lot of kids around here. So I bought 2 bags of candy.
I ran into my neighbor at the market and she said not to bother. We are the only ones on our street and it's on a hill. They wont bother.
She was right. Not one kid.
Now I have to "dispose' all that candy.
