Re: Foose Designs C/28

You can bet his cars on public display at SEMA are near perfect.
I just watched Martin's or Kindig's show this week where they cut down the bumpers in a similar fashion on a C10.

Re: Foose Designs C/28

This is a good build BUT not the muscle truck I would expect to be built by the legend for SEMA with the kinda of resources put into the displays / rides.

Don't get me wrong it's nice but I think that the wheels could be better, something new, along the Z/28 muscle car line, less tire to fender gap with more sidewall on the rear tires and the rear bumper could run into the trim like the front.

The interior, the front, the engine bay, emblems and rear view looks great, the side view is ok.

Btw, I would still like to own it.

Re: Foose Designs C/28

It sure is a nice truck, but I have to ask, what happened to the original concept?

Ok, watched it again and I still think it's nice, but I will take the truck as is now along with the rendering and build it like it looks in the rendering but with a sport rear bumper and the C/28 emblem on the tailgate and be done.

Re: Foose Designs C/28

i dont believe the black concept truck is from foose ( different signature)...

the idea of the muscle truck was just that, A 1960's muscle truck ( since they found a 67 302 (or whatever it really was, 327?).

personally, besides the wheel choice, i think it works flawlessly. i am glad it didnt receive a large billet ralley, or a 5 spoke.

i almost wonder if a larger DAY 2 style wheel (slotted) would look better....

who knows, but i do know some copies will soon follow.

all in all, it is a C-10 with a cool motor and nice bumper treatments.

Great stuff. Did he use pine on that bed or oak? I didn't hear.

From the look of the grain, I would say oak. However I am definitely not a wood expert.

WHAT ? Chip Foose decided to paint the truck over leaving the rusty patina ? OH ! The world will never be the same again ...

I got some awesome patina on my floor boards and cab corners! Oh wait- that's rust. Thin lines are made to be danced upon.

Thumbs up Re: Foose Designs C/28

I love this truck! This truck provides inspiration for me to get back on my ‘67 SWB.

I like the modified Camaro bumpers, although I agree that they aren’t too functional as actual bumpers. You just have to be careful not to hit anything. lol

I’ve never seen anyone modify the factory truck bumpers to leave just the upper hump. Hmmmm Maybe I should take a look at that. It would certainly be easier and cheaper than going through the modification process that Chip Foose did. That’s for sure. And I already have front and rear roll pans available.

But there are a few things that I would have done differently than Chip. He went for a “Day 2” look with the wheels. I like them okay, but I think I would do something else.

Yeah, I get the nod to being more modern with the A/C, but NO original, first gen Z28 came with air conditioning. I would rather that he went with a factory type cowl plenum induction. They were rare, but functional and would be a big nod towards what a “real” C/28 would have been back in the day.

Did anyone notice the lack of a tachometer in the dash? That stuck out to me. Surely a hi-perf engine like a 302 SBC would have needed a tach.

But, I suppose that if these were my only criticisms, then I really don’t have much. Those things can be changed pretty easily - except for getting rid of the A/C. That I would keep anyway since I tend to melt in the heat. lol

Inspiration! Now I need to get moving on mine!

I've seen that done 30 years ago

I would have called it a Z/10

Hope this gets you back to your project, your bumper idea sounds more realistic, Chips got the benifit of 20 guys, and unlimited budget to get it done. I didn't like his choice for wheels, 1st set looked better to me.

Re: Foose Designs C/28

I watched the whole series and it is a beautiful truck, I knew from the time he said he was going to leave the patina that Chip coudln't do it he's too much of a perfectionist!!!
