My Sons S-10

OK here is the deal.

2002 extended cab 3 door s-10.
I want to mount a sub box and amp in his truck.

I want the sub box to hang off the back window with a metal loop that will go down inside the metal between the glass and back wall of the truck. Mount some rubber bumpers on the speaker box itself for the bottom to just rest up against the back of the cab.
The back floor has his CD changer and spare tire jack all in the floor against the back cab wall that's why I want to do this.
Has anyone tried it before are think it will work or not?
I'm neededing suggestions.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: My Sons S-10

Does he use the jumper seats? You can remove one or both and custom build a box to house subs or you can buy a pre-fab box.

Re: My Sons S-10

Yes it has the one jumper seat on passenger side which after looking at the speaker stuff it will be useless after whatever we install!

72 cheyenne pdx,

Thanks Man!! That's what I needed a picture of what I needed to build. I looked at the back glass and the hanging mount wasn't going to work at all. This will though. I'll have pictures over the Hollidays I hope of the box I build for him!

Re: My Sons S-10

I got everything installed and it sounds great. I ended up building a box enclosure for it. I took the factory jack and stuff out of the back and put it all inside the jumper seat area and it worked out great. Drilled a hole in the back of the speaker box for the screw in jack hold down to still be used to hold the speaker box in place and made some small pedastals for it to sit level. I'll get pictures later today after I get home.

Good to hear that you were able to make something that works in the space provided.

Re: My Sons S-10

Yea it works and it takes up a good bit of the extended cab part too! I'll try and remember to get some pictures of it tonight. I'll be driving it to Charlotte Tuesday for training.
I had the battery dead yesterday when I got home from work. I think the Amp killed it. Hadn't drove it in 2 days. The amp is straight wired to the battery and a little light stays on all the time.

Re: My Sons S-10

Here are the pictures and measurments.
12" deep x 18" tall x 20" across.
What do I need to do to keep it from draining the battery?

Re: My Sons S-10

Your blue wire should go to the blue wire on the back of your head unit. That's assuming you have an aftermarket head unit. If it is the stock radio. Find a 12v source that is only there when the truck is on. If it is connected to a constant 12v source, the amp will be on all the time.

You got it. Stock radio, I knew I should have done it myself. I took the dash apart to see where the blue wire went. It was hooked to the yellow memory from the radio. I found a on/off hot and got it hooked back up right now. Thanks for the reply. it's nice to know I was thinking right!!
