Hopefully they spay/neuter...

the that decided to attach the clutch master cylinder and pedal with plastic twist-on connections. Just had the master cylinder fall off as the bracket broke off...
Seriously, let's get the engineers and bean-counters responsible OUT of the GENE POOL!

Its a known issue on these. They figure anyone still buying a truck with a manual is over 70, so you won't outlive the lifecycle on the plastics

A good friend of mine does OEM engineering of all sorts of stuff for GM 3rd party vendors. You'd be extremely surprised by the reasoning behind things like this. While it seems dumb (and kinda is dumb), there is usually a reason beyond cost. For example, its possible those fastners were spec'd to sheer at a certain load, in order to prevent damage to something else in the system. Plastics also get used in situations in which multiple types of materials are being fastened together, to help prevent issues like galvanic corrosion.
