Re: Playstation or XBox?

From my depth of knowledge on the topic I'd say XStation is better than Playbox.

Re: Playstation or XBox?

I couldn't tell you . Never owned either , Never wasted the money on couch potato toys when time is better spent on reality rather than some animated kids game shooting aliens .I feel sorry for the kids of today never having experienced the life before carrying around a cell phone with their head buried in it playing some game . Why not take up a hobby were you produce something other than wasted time and dead batteries ? I saw a story on the news one day about kids taking classes to learn how to play together without electronics involved .When I was younger the only game we had extra time to play was meeting girls at the beach ! Now That's a reality game !

Re: Playstation or XBox?

Many people who play video games also get off the couch and do active things, same as people who watch TV and use the internet. Long evening hours in winter brings out the couch potato in most of us. I told DirecTv to stick it last spring and now I'm wondering if I shouldn't see bout getting it back. If I had a shop right outside I'd spend my evenings there. I'm single, live in the country, and need some way to pass the winter evenings by.

Re: Playstation or XBox?

This is somewhat of a complicated question these days. to simplify it though. figure out which games you want to play and see what system they are on. If you plan on playing anything online, find out what your friends have and go there.

Most games are on both systems, but each system has exclusives that the others don't. A lot of the XBOX exclusives can be had on PC though.

I personally prefer XBOX. it is a local company and I like to support local companies, instead of sending my money off shores. and yes I know both systems are likely built in China.

Now here is the complicated part. Both Playstation and Xbox have more than one current console.

the base consoles are now XBOX ONE S. and Playstation 4. they both are about the same except the XB has HDR and can play ultra high def. 4k blu rays, and the sony can't. these can both be had anywere from $200 to $250. though I saw some black Friday deals for about 100 off that.

They both also have premium consoles. the playstations is called PS4 Pro. it is designed to play games at 4k. does not have UHD blu ray capability and does not do native 4k. runs about $300

Yesterday Microsoft released the XBOX ONE X. this is the most powerful console ever created. more powerful than MOST computers. has native 4k. UHD blu ray. this one just came out and is brand new, so you might have trouble finding it. runs about $400

both of the premium consoles and the base consoles all play the same games. meaning if you bought Halo 5 for the XBOX ONE. it is still playable on both XB1 S and X. same with ps4 and ps4 pro.

edited to add: the XBOX controller is by far superior to the playstation controller. though the DS4 is better than the previous generation playstation controllers.

Re: Playstation or XBox?

As jon67 said most is just a matter of preference. Most games are available on both consoles. Do you have friends/family that plays? If so find out which system they use and go with the same one. The reason is you can play online games together. I personally prefer the Playstation because of the controller. I have fairly small hands and the Xbox controller isn't comfortable to me.

Re: Playstation or XBox?

I only say playstation because I've owned them all (PS, PSII, III, and IV.)

LOVE the GTA franchise.

What's sad is I spend more time nowadays using the smart TV features than playing games anymore (Watching roadkill on a 60" TV with surround sound is awesome!)

What I HATE about PS is that more and more of the games are requiring that you have their online subscription ($$) to get new or better game content or even gameplay. The new Gran Tourismo is almost exclusively online gameplay only I was going to order it until I read all the negative reviews on it (because of the online gameplay only).

Some people love the online game stuff, it's OK, I'm more of a first person play alone kind of player.

Re: Playstation or XBox?

technically theres no real difference. i had a xbox360 so got a xboxone cause all my real life and online friends were on xbox so i figured i would stay with that.

but playstation 4 has better exclusives, like the last of us, uncharted, infamous, and a few others i cant remember right now. all xbox really has is halo

so i guess that would be my advice, do some googling see what kinda games youre into and make sure the console has them

Re: Playstation or XBox?

I've had every Playstation since the P1 but never a Xbox.

I'd buy an XBox One X. Mostly because of disappointment with the Racing Games (Xbox has Forza, PS has Gran Turismo). Both systems charge you for online subscriptions. Who cares what DVD's they play because EVERYONE is going digital.

I should also include that I quit gaming two years ago, so maybe I should keep my opinion to myself. LOL

Re: Playstation or XBox?

Thanks guys, here is my next question for you,

Can you guys get me the physical dimensions of each system?

Length x width x height?

*I have a ski condo and I want to put a shelf on the wall so renters can put their game systems there instead of piling them on top of the DVD player.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I have a PS4. Like some others have noted, I mostly chose it because the controller is more comfortable for me.

Smile Re: Playstation or XBox?

I have never played either of these games.....and I'm definitely ok with that, lol.

Interestingly, I heard an article recently that stated that the average young man, at the age of 21 yrs old.....has played almost 10,000 hrs of video games, which is enough time to have completed 2 bachelors degrees.

Interesting stuff.....am I missing out?

All good

And without this computer we would have time to restore three more.

Re: Playstation or XBox?

I've always had Xbox because that's what all my buddies have. I personally don't play video games much at all these days and only use it for Netflix and the Xbox store to rent movies.

I did just pick up a new game that got me playing with buddies again. It's Called Spintires Mud Runner and is an offroad simulation game where you drive old logging trucks through Siberia. It's fun with friends especially when you get your truck buried in mud and they have to come and winch you out.

Re: Playstation or XBox?

I stopped playing First Person games on my PC about 8-10 years ago. My PC and wallet couldn't keep up the the memory they started to consume. Last year I bought a PlayStation and a few games Thinking I could get back into it. Hated it. I was too use to the performance of the PC games and I did not like the hand controller. I never did like the controller, but thought I could get past it...NOT.
PC is the way Togo in my opinion.

i play a lot of gta5 online, it came out in in late 2013 i have over 90 days of straight gameplay time. thats insane to think of what i could have done if i put that time into building a truck or something productive. but in reality all's it has done is take time away from watching tv or sleeping.

video games now a days are like interactive movies. most have a plot and a story that you can change around how you want as you play

Re: Playstation or XBox?

GTA V is really fun online with friends. But after all the dlc's and stuff everything cool is expensive and it's too much of a grind to get money. Once in awhile I'll jump in a game with friends and they all have their maxed out super cars and their CEO suites and I'm just cruising around in my average cars lol.
