Changing hinges on 69 panel

I have a 1969 panel Im restoring/modifing .I hate the freaking guady hinges for rear doos. I wondering if anyone has changed them out to something newer. I would like something that either more of less hidden or at least lot smaller.. Plus wouldn't a smaller stop kind of like on a astro van work just as good as the bigass ones on top of the doors. If you have and have pics great if not drop me a line as to what you have used or tried.
