Re: stock 4x4 question

31s will fit on a 2wd. These trucks came stock with 31s, and a 32 will fit fine. A tall skinny 33" will fit too. A 33" on stock 8" rally's with a mild 2 1/2" lift looks good IMO. I personally always liked 6" with 35s...

Re: stock 4x4 question

Good and bad. The good - blocks are easy and lift easily, cheap as well. Bad - blocks on the front of a straight axle truck are illegal. Due to the stress the front suspension sees (left to right) unlike the back (just up and down) they can kick out and possibly hit something or someone. Honestly unless you're acting stupid you'd be fine. But i'm just puttin that out there...

Re: stock 4x4 question

Never put blocks on the front, ever! not safe. 2" lift and 31's will be fine.

This pic looks more like a 6" lift to me, i have a 4" Rancho lift with BFG 33's and your pic looks like there is more space between the tire and top of the fender well.

Re: stock 4x4 question

I'll just agree with others have said.... NO BLOCKS UP FRONT, and the truck in that pic is lifted more than 'just a little'.

Re: stock 4x4 question

Agreed 100% do not use blocks on the front. It is a huge safety issue, but not because of what the block might hit if it came out. The problem is that you lose control of the axle. The block increases the leverage against the mounting points and U-bolts, which is why it could get loose in the first place. If the block gets loose, or comes out, the center pin is no longer keeping the axle "located". So the entire axle could move front to back, drastically changing the steering, not to mention what would happen when one corner instantly drops 2-4 inches.

Re: stock 4x4 question

I got 33"s with no lift however the tires rub when the tires are turned and going over bumps. I'd like a 4" inch in the near future.

That appears to be 33s and a 2" to 2 1/2" lift.

Forget the body lift and do a suspension lift.

Re: stock 4x4 question

I have no problems with body lifts. They will gain you some tire clearance for a street cruiser or mild off roader. The only negative it that the only ground clearance gain comes from the increase in tire size. If that doesn't matter, you will be fine.

Re: stock 4x4 question

i agree, there's absolutely nothing wrong with a body lift. keep it under 3", use real blocks (no pucks), gr. 8 bolts & it's a very good idea to swap your body mounts for poly. another option, if you don't mind cutting sheet metal- cut out fender flares, they open up the right area's of your fender & pretty much give you the equal of a 3" lift.
i would go 4" lift, if it doesn't clear, add a 1 or 2" b. lift. with a 4" lift you shouldn't have to mess with driveshaft angles or lengths, brake lines, dropped t-cases, etc.

Re: stock 4x4 question

I have 38.5" boggers on 12" wide wheels on my 84 with a POS 4" lift. Only rubs when flexing real hard...
