Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info

What is the bigest height tire can you use on the back of a 2 wheel drive half ton truck with stock suspension, without being lifted up. And how wide?

Here's a 4x4 pic. 3/4 ton, 4 inch suspension lift, tires are 33 x 15.5 x 16 and wheels are 16 x 10. Doesn't rub, but throws the mud!!

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info

Wheel to ground is not a accurate measurement. Wheel and tire sizes will vary that measurement.

I have the rear drop measurement from a few guys with ECE 6" and they have between 2.5" to 3" between the axel and frame.

Thanks man. My only rubbing problem is the rims want to rub on the control arms when the wheel is cut deep at speed. It has only happened once while pulling into a parking spot way to quick. I think it's that syndrome of combining a drop spindle and 15" wheel. I am currently shopping for some new 17" rollers that should solve the problem.

I love the back view. How much land you got? You could hide a few parts trucks back in those trees as well. Nice shop too.

I will be sure to pass on the compliment to my buddy who owns the place . His shop is the same size as mine but since he has a torch and a mega air compressor we did the drop at his place. As far as acreage there lets just say "a lot".

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info

I will confirm that the rim width is the issue. I have 7" van rallys up front and they have never hit the controll arm. That 1" must be the clearance needed.
My front drop is 2.5 spindle and a 1" coil.

Found this tonight: http://www.autowaretech7.net/nextwheels/newstal.htm

It has over 300 different classic cars/trucks and a boatload of sweet wheels.
Also allows you to lower the vehicle, change wheel sizes and change colors. Veeeery coooool!

I have a 72 longhorn C30. I just ordered 18X9 rims. The truck is stock height. I could use some help in picking the right tire size. Thanks

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info

see ten - are your inner fenders out of that truck? I'm running a 2.5" front drop and it looks like my tires will hit the inner fenders if I go over a bump. I noticed that you said you had some rubbing when cutting corners, and didn't see any comments on the inner fenders, so I thought I'd ask.

Here is my pick. I'm old school and still like lots of rubber and 15" rims. These are 285-70-15"s on 10" rims( no rubbing Issues) Frt's are 255-70-15's on 8" rims
Truck Has 3" drop spindles with 2 in drop springs. Rear has a 4" drop spring with a 2" spacer.

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info

I will chip in and answer your question. I am running 2.5 spindle and 1" coil. 255/60's on the 7" van rallys. NEVER has it rubbed in the last 4000 miles. I am sure both of our trucks have inner fenders.

Only diffirence is he is using 8" rallys and 275/60 up front.

What rim size do you have ?

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info

I'm running 235/75/15 on 8" rally's today, but want to put some 255/60/17 on the truck. The 17" will have more backspacing, probably 5". Just looking at my current 27.5" setup, I've only got 3-4" between the tire and the inner fender. I just thought our suspension moved that much when going over bumps in the road.

I don't want to goof up my powder coated chassis!! Thanks for the input.

Re: Wheel/Tire Fitment Pictures & Info

Is 4.75 in of backspacing not gonna be enough for a 9.5 in wheel? I found some wheels i like with zero offset and was wondering if they will work? btw the tires ill be running will be roughly 30 by 10 in.
