My 71 was the had the mildew film when I got it. I washed it with TSP and a red scrub pad. Then went over it with some good car wash soap before I buffed it. I made a world of difference.

Re: Pulled this 68 out today(lots of pictures!)

was that thing 514 red from the factory? i MIGHT know someone with a pair of 68 chevy factory red fenders... not sure how well the emblem holes or the faded paint color would match, but it would sure be better than what you have!

Found the build sheet in the truck. It says its code 44 for the color right out of the frame of the picture.

Re: Pulled this 68 out today(lots of pictures!)

that would be the standard red. 544 breaks down to be 2-tone 526 ivory and 514 red. unfortunately i checked in with my friend and no dice on the chevy fenders.

that's weird it lists panoramic cab on a 68???

Wow. Who would have thought that was under all that grime? So did you ever get it to run? Just curious.

Not yet. Needs a starter. I took the old one off friday night and the place we take our starters and alternators is closed over the weekend. Tomorrow I'm bring it in first thing in the morning. Whats funny is she said it had a tick when she parked it but it ran fine. Found out that one of the exhaust manifolds was missing half its bolts so hopefully I can put some in and fix that problem(if i can get it running)

Re: Pulled this 68 out today(lots of pictures!) Update: IT LIVES

Got it running for a short while today! The post on the starter was loose so he tightened it up, we put the battery from my white 70 in it, and sprayed some starting fluid into the carb and it fired right up! Needs a new fuel pump so it can run for more than 30 seconds but it does run! Fuel pump will be here tomorrow morning and it should be cruising around by noon tomorrow!! One thing is the "tick" the old lady mentioned is more of a knock lol.

The videos: http://vid1298.photobucket.com/album...psnoqyjuf7.mp4

http://vid1298.photobucket.com/album...psiwmvxdzs.mp4
Sorry it turns sideways!! I thought the orientation thing would change it.
