Siren Mount Ideas

There was an old siren mounted on the drivers side inner fender of my truck when I got it. I reconditioned the siren and am trying to figure out where to mount it under the hood. I don't want to put it back on the inner fender because it cracked the metal. Any ideas on where and how to mount something like this? The truck has a big block, A/C, and power steering so I'm somewhat limited on space under the hood.

Also, will it hurt the siren to mount it vertically rather than horizontally?

Re: Siren Mount Ideas

I have something like that in my 78 Jeep J10. Mine is mounted under the radiator core support. it should not hurt the siren to point it downward.

Do you have any pics of the siren? Just trying to get some ideas on mounting it.

On the front side of the core support behind the bumper is probably a decent spot. Find a length of metal to put on the backside of the core support (or wherever you mount it) to reinforce the area and prevent future cracks.

I know you said under the hood, but why not under the bed? Plenty of space there, just build a water splash shield and good to go!

I definitely thought about it but my main concern was water. I suppose I could fab a splash shield for it.

Re: Siren Mount Ideas

To prevent any further damage to your truck you'll need to sell that to me.

Re: Siren Mount Ideas

I get you want to keep it with the truck, just curious what you are going to do with a siren? Wonder if you can be sited if you were caught using it?

It was originally for a primitive car alarm system that was on the truck. Yes I’m sure you can be cited for something like this here in commiefornia and pretty much any other state. I plan on using it to announce my presence upon arrival at various destinations

Re: Siren Mount Ideas

You can definitely be "cited" for unauthorized use of a siren and/or red/blue flashing lights.

I would fab up a backing plate for the inner fender and put it back where it was originally.
