Tell me about these Holley Heads

Ran across a pair of sbc Aluminum Holley heads. Recently machined in great shape. Cast # is 12111. Thats all it says. Does anyone know anything about them. Are they worth the buy for $600?

I am getting ready to stroke my sbc to 383. Got my carb and bottom end. Looking for intake and heads. Wanting lots of low end torque.

Have a 2wd 71 350.

Those are the old Holley Systemax heads and they would be great for a torquey 383. They have 185cc intake runners, which is bigger than stock, but sized great for a bigger cu in SBC like a 383. Those heads were made for Holley by Brodix, and they used to come in a package put together by Holley with their Street Dominator high rise intake and a hyd cam that made a little over 400 HP on a flat top 350. They should be well worth $600 if they are in good shape and the guides are trashed.

I mean worn out - meaning if you have to pay $600 for them and then have to have new guides put in them, its not such a good deal.

price doesnt include rockers, just valves and springs..still good? Does have screw in studs, push rod guide plates.

Yes, that's still a good price. Those heads are have a 20 degree valve angle to make them flow better instead a standard 23 degree angle. They work fine with normal SBC pistons unless you are running a big cam (like a race cam or roller).

bought em and they look really good. gAVE me the receipt from the shop too that went through them. Oh, can I NOT use a roller cam with these?

You can... just make sure your piston to valve clearance is good. Also check to make sure the valve springs will support the amount of lift you wanna use.
