1968-69 c20 Chev with 327

Ok i found a 1968-69 chev with a 327 and 4 speed. The guy wants 400.00 bucks. The tranny looks different that my 67 c10 4 speed?? Any input on the tranny?? Rust in the usuall places 8 lug wheels rear springs, and looks like someone added an extra tank. The grill looks just like my 67 so i think its a 68?? Any way wondering if its worth it, i might pick it up for my son or maybe a donor rig.

thanks
Vance

It should be a `68.That was the last year for 327.The trans may have been swapped in one of the trucks.67 & 68 would have the same from factory. It`s worth $400 if it runs. That`s a great motor. It should be a large journal with steel crank.

Ok i just couldnt pass it up!! i need some help to identify some things. I believe i have an eaton rear end, but the tranny is not the same as my 67 c10. Seems higher geared. I am going to have to remove the altenator to see the motor numbers but i think its a 327. Here some pics.

here is the motor, the distributator looks different, and i am concerned with the 2 barrel? What i can find says the 327 comes standard with a 4 barrel.

Looks like a S/M420 transmission??? I bet your other truck is a S/M465
All the 327's that I ever saw in 67 & 68 trucks had the old style Carter 4 bbl carb????
The alternator is on the wrong side and the EGR on that intake plus the 2bbl and the alt arrangement I would have to guess and say it has a transplanted later or even mid 70's motor. Maybe a 305???

Nice`68 Custom/20.It`s true, there were two options on 4spds.It`s had a few changes along the way,but is still pretty original.

Hi Vance, we e-mailed a little through CL, like you said thats not a DANA rear end. She looks fairly rust free, with the HEI and alt bracket I'm betting 305 or 350. Looks like she has some good inner fenders! Gotta love that uncut dash!

Yeah, Vance I gotta get mine working too, It lights up but the speaker is shot, not like you can hear them if they do work Not with duals that stop right infront of the rear axle!
That sure is a clean looking old rig, is it fairly straight? What are you gonna have to steal off it?

Tim what is the differance between the two trannys, i know that the 67 or 465 is very low geared, could start off in 3rd reall easy. This one seems to be higher geared??

thanks
