jsut bought 67 c20 burb and got lots of Q's

ive been a lurker for a while and i have had my share of these trucks in the past (they are my favorite thing on 4 wheels)......just got a new 67 c20 burb yesterday....2500 miles from arizona, she now resides in smyrna, de!!!! it pretty much rust free and straight, its got a few dings but for the most part i dont have to touch the body. she will need a engine and trans and a few other things.

could use some help on the power steering set-up. i have never seen a power steering setup like this one. i am used to the power box with the pump. this seems a little too complicated. did GM do away with this configuration??? will it run off of the commonly seen power steering pump??? it all looks to be there with no missing parts. will later model power steering bolt in.....it has power drums too (i was hoping to take the whole front end out of 3/4 tunner from the early 80's). this way ill get the discs too???

any help would greatly be appreciated!!

Congrats and welcome. I'll be lurking for a while on the burb section as well.

'67 was the last year for that PS set-up. I added PS to my '68; it was straightforward once I had the parts assembled.

I would think the '67 to modern change would be as simple. Someone else will have to chime in on exactly what parts have to change.

Yep thats power steering. From the mid fifties to 1967.
Later model steering boxes will bolt up if you have a notched frame where the steering box mounts.
If the frame is straight some times an adaptor can be used but there is some discussion here whether it really works good or not.
Check out the suspension forum. There may be an answer to your question.
Good luck

Looks like I'm second in line for an answer. LOL.
Oh bye the way. Welcome to the board.
Nice looking burb.

Re: jsut bought 67 c20 burb and got lots of Q's

must be a really nice crate motor for that kind of money.....too bad it isn't a 383.......my dad bought his bad boy 406sbc with 10k on a rebuild for $500 and is is going in my 72 burb eventually as he junked the truck he had it in. with your truck (other than drivetrain issues) i'd just upgrade the front brakes to later factory disc, maybe add a sway bar and otherwise just polish up that old ride. she may not be the youngest girl at the ball, but she'll turn a head or two (including mine)!!!

Re: jsut bought 67 c20 burb and got lots of Q's

thanks for the offer on the motor....i am going to wait on a 88-90 3/4 ton blue suburban with fuel injection. im hoping to get everything i need off of one truck (seats, driveshaft, motor, trans, wheels & tires, disc brakes, ect) if i am patient enough, i think i can get one in the $500-800 range. i know where i can pick up 1989 454 burb for $1000, i would rather have small block and a little less $$$$

Re: jsut bought 67 c20 burb and got lots of Q's

cool plan....newer burbs do have a better seating setup with the flip down second row and quick removal third row. i want to adapt those features to my truck, but keep the stock upholstery. someone must have a good way to attach the buckets to wood floor for the third row seat. i will have the parts i need when my dad junks his 87 burb due to rust. will just have to change the paint on the metal parts to a lighter shade of blue. the armrest supports are more streamlined on the newer seat but the arm rests themselves and the ashtrays look like carryovers....very stealthy install if done right!
