Thanks! They are rollers until I get the 16.5's I rounded up cleaned and painted and new tires mounted on them.

Re: New From NorCal with '71 GMC Ambo

After months of sorting out the interior and attending to some minor mechanical issues, my rig was finally ready last week to take the (assisted) journey down to the real mechanics for badly needed brakes, some tuning and a bunch of electrical work in the quest to get it fully roadworthy again. Progress!

Re: New From NorCal with '71 GMC Ambo

Well, it's been a while since a progress update but the news is good. A few months and many dollars later and my Suburban is now a beautifully driving rig.

The mechanical renovations included a complete new braking system, full tune up with carb adjustments, all new under hood hoses and belts, fuel pump and sending unit, fuel lines, starter, sway bar bushings, wheel bearings, replaced the missing glass, wipers and all the mirrors, new custom exhaust system, serviced the rear axle and transmission and repaired the trans pan, removed trailer hitch and repaired a ton of wiring issues.

The looks are now much improved and on a recent 250 mile trip for a car show it drove and ran like a dream. Still have plenty to address but for the time being I've got to give the 'ole pocketbook a rest.

Lots more photos at the link below.
