1991 Crew Cab Short Bed Build

I'm not as organized as most of your builds and definately not as good at pics but here's my build...

I bought this pickup with the idea of going through every single nut and bolt. So far I've stayed to my word.

...more pics as I organize them

Re: 1991 Crew Cab Short Bed Build

1968vetL-71: I was going back and forther on keeping the two tone. I liked it, but at the end decided to go all black.

Telecasterjoey: Not an LMC dash, in that box was a dash cover, glued it on my original dash and just couldn't get myself to use it (didn't fit right etc...). Reading around on this forum it sounded like people have problems with quality and fit of aftermarket dashes so I bought an original gm dash from Classic Industries. It hurt the wallet, but I love it. I didn't want to look at something ugly or messed up everyday.

Re: 1991 Crew Cab Short Bed Build

I used RAAmaudio for sound deadener. I used RAAMmat and Ensolite through the whole cab. What a difference so far, and the door panel and healiner are not in yet. The Ensolite (foam matting stuff) seems to make more of a difference than anything. The bottome of the cab was also undercoated so I'm hoping this cab is QUIET!

Dash looks great! I was hoping you found a cheap good looking dash but I guess you gotta pay for quality!

Re: 1991 Crew Cab Short Bed Build

Found a few more pics of seat install. These are 'take outs' from brand new Honda Odyssey's. A conversion company in Phoenix pulls them and a guy sells them from his backyard. They fit great and color matched perfect.

Also spent a bunch of quality time with my seat belts. Laundry soap and hot water did wonders.

Should've cleaned up the welds a little better but it's under the seat anyway (still bugging me that its under there though!)

Carboncrew!
Love the rig! You inspired me so much I went and got a set of those seats!
Turns out its even from the same guy, he does the local swap meet circuits, and I got them at a good deal. Just picked them up today.

I can't tell from the pic, did you build the whole seat mount?
I'm putting these in the front of my suburban, and I was thing about installing them as a bench on top of the existing (stock) mount and slider. Seems like you did something similar but I'm not sure.

Oh, or am I looking at both the front and REAR seat mounts?

Last question: What brand/color grey did you use on the interior trim (to match the seats)?

Thanks!
Nick

Re: 1991 Crew Cab Short Bed Build

Wow, I just realized that I asked this same question in a PM, here is the answer in case anyone else is adding seats like this:

Hey Nick,
Thanks for complements. Yes, I used Honda middle seats for both the front and rear seat. Yes I built the seat frames. On the back seat I used some of the parts off original bench seat. Front was just a a square frame and tabs bent to use factory holes.

I hope that helps!

Do either of you guys have a link to the seat guy? I would have never guessed minivan seats would work so well.

Your truck is absolutely perfect by the way. I am building one just like it, only half as nice. I'd be scared to use it if it was as nice as yours.

Thank you sir, I appreciate it. With the kids pilled in it I do feel a little uptight sometimes....lol!

Pull up Phoenix craigslist and type 'bucket seats' they'll pop up. The guy is kinda quirky...just so ya know.

Re: 1991 Crew Cab Short Bed Build

Those seats look great in there. Maybe you could get either grey or black vinyl and cover the sides of your seat bracket. It would cover the welds, and look like it was made as part of the seat. You have a great looking truck. Love the colors.
