Front fender well rubbing A arm - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hey guys, new here (I did post in the welcome section) and I'm working on my 1977 C10. When I got this pickup I noticed the passenger wheel well sat and rubbed on the upper A Arm. I was thinking the cab mounts might just be shot but before I went crazy, thought I'd post here and get some input just to make sure I'm headed in the right direction. I'll try to post pictures once my account allows me.

I'm assuming the wheel tub (inner fender) is contacting the upper A arm?
If so, seems rather odd since the cut-out in the tubs to accommodate suspension travel is rather huge. If the cab mounts were completely shot, you would lose only a small amount of clearance and the cab would look noticeably tilted . Even if the truck is lowered the A arm range of travel does not change. The only modification that would drastically increase the upward travel of the upper A arm would be air bags and usually the tubs are cut or completely removed to allow room for the A arm travel when you set it on the ground. Something else is going on here.

Moto, it may be a simple matter of pulling or prying up the wheel well. It could have been bent done by someone stepping on it or who knows what. Sometimes the clearance isn't much but it doesn't need much. Don't overthink it.

That was definitely a thought I had Bluestep. Just trying to see what other possibilities I should check out.

I would say that the inner fender is definitely bent down. That part should be horizontal from the lip to the bend where the part curves up. It has rubbed for a long time! just grab it and pull it up.

I was picturing something waaayy worse than that, dude! Just bend her back up. New inner fenders are dirt cheap too.

I knew it wasn't bad bad but just working on getting her cleaned up and back on the road.

I would check the spring on that side. just in case one coil is broken or missing. To be on the safe side.

To be on the safe side. __________________ 1977 REG cab Long Bed with a 1984 Front Clip, 82 305 .60 over 9.0.1 flat top pistons, 4bbl, TH350, w/84 SS-intake & cam , w/ 1977 big block rad, 1975 gear box, 1984 master w/ metric fittings top & SAE fitting @ portion block, 1975 3.42 gear open diff. Duel 77-87 Factory air cleaner, duel inlet from rad support . Down sized 9' to new 8' Steel flat bed Was a 77 454 w/308 gear. Taken out 550 lbs. up front with motor clip change.
