Performance dash how to/project

So I have my iroc gauges that I built a long time ago. I just pulled them out today to do a overhaul on the dash since my Equuis gauges have either failed or are inaccurate anymore or the heat from just the bulbs has caused the plastic to degrade and the bulbs fall out. They were $20 on clearance when I got them and for all intents and purposes got my by just fine.

I got some sunpro gauges to replace the the old. And a clock to add to my cluster.

As I pulled the bezel and gauges out I noticed the plastic housing has pretty much reached its limit after the years and had cracked and missing mounts and broken/stripped thread holes everywhere. Looks like its time for me to replace or repair. I'm fixing now and repairing later.

And this is just for fun when the doors open or dome light is on

Re: Performance dash how to/project

Haha ^
After using my dremal on the gauge panel I can fit the sunpro style line from behind and epoxy them in

This shows the cutting required to fit the iroc gauges and iroc speedometer.

And some more plastic welding.

Got some more done today. Got the lens bolt hole rebuilt and the gauges epoxied in
Fixed some chunks of cluster that broke and a few cracks here and there.

Do they make those Sunpro gauges in electrical instead of mechanical?

Re: Performance dash how to/project

Got one of my mounts fixed today after cutting it off my donor bezel. You may ask why so much trouble for this when I have a perfect one as a donor? It doesn't have mounts for a clock...and I really want my nos clock int there lol

Re: Performance dash how to/project

Threw it in the dishwasher while the GF wasn't looking and got it cleaned and ready to paint white.
Then got the light sockets drilled and sized for the sunpro's

Re: Performance dash how to/project

Count on your hands and feet how many times a dash can come out. No multiply by a billion and that was my day 14hrs of it and I'm still not done. First off the sunpro volt gauge was broke so I had break it out and re epoxy it and then put it in. Then the oil gauge leaked from the fitting...of coarse. Pulled it out tightened it and went for a drive. Of coarse the new tach driver was way off so I pulled it out and fit a new one after filling the tank with gas...now the gas gauge won't work no matter which gauge I put on....dear lord I am tired.

Those gauges look good in there specially the iroc gauges. Cool to have a trip meter also.

Re: Performance dash how to/project

The trip meter is nice for sure. I will also show how to change the odometer readings so you keep your original mileage readings but here is the finished product I will get a vid too

Really cool! I might go down this path since my Autometer gauges have seen better days, the numbers are starting to flack off and the liqued filled ones are almost empty.

Re: Performance dash how to/project

I didn't exactly re wire everything so much as I ran new ones to the old. For the fuel gauge I ran the wires to the terminals that the big fuel gauge would go to and ran them all out the bulb hole on the bottom right. The triple gauges lights got soldered in the circuit board as so
