If I could ever... I would.

Re: "If I could have any truck..." Confessions Of A Chevy Guy

I've had a thing for this orange dodge for close to 30 years and I still think its the nicest pro-street truck to this day. may pro-street builds didn't age well, this is one of the few exceptions. I heard it went to the UK after a messy divorce and the matching Dakota was cut in half by the exwife out of spite.

I actually just ordered the backissue of truckin' just for that truck

This '41 Plymouth truck is local to me, I am fascinated with it. And it IS in fact very rare as the plate says.

Yeah, Plymouth trucks are rare. Another one I'd like to have, for that reason.

That grille gave them a tough look. I remember a lot of trucks with that grille through my childhood from toys to step vans, fire trucks, dumps, you name it. My cousin had a little black one he got off an old man in the early-70s. I wanted to be the next driver but he sold it when I wasn't in the area. His was bone stock.

I'd like to have my 89 Dakota convertible back.

Was it ugly...YES

Was it slow...YOU BET.

But it was a lot of fun to cruise it around with the top down.

And believe it or not, it was pretty reliable even with 190,000 miles on it.

Kind of like an ugly girl. She may be ugly but she's fun and you never get stood up.

Nice trucks Bill (especially the NAPCO)! But I have to ask...are those old pics? Sure doesn't look like the Frazier Park I remember.

That's an awesome place to have a shop! I did a lot of 4-wheeling and mountain biking around Frazier Park / Lockwood Valley back in the day. Also did a ton of concrete and block wall work in Northridge following the '94 earthquake. Your slumpstone walls 'bout made me feel homesick for a minute.

Re: "If I could have any truck..." Confessions Of A Chevy Guy

Oh man. Those '56 Ford pics make me miss mine. Mine was original when I bought it in 72 but soon after dad and I installed an Olds 350 and auto complete with the Cutlass wiring harness inside and out. A couple years later we clipped the frame with a Chevelle front, added a tilt column, power 60/40 seat. Then I added a 12 bolt posi from a Camaro. I liked to tell guys the only part of my Ford still Ford was the sheet metal and the title. The rest was all GM. I think I traded it in '84 for my first Chevy. Whoever said you never forget your first was right. I'd like the chance to do mine all over again.
And yours. I don't remember when I last saw a Napco 50s Ford.
And I see a VW truck in the garage too. Some collection you've got there.

Drive-by in Frazier Park!? Or do you mean in your old stomping grounds? Then again, I didn't think that Northridge had that kind of trouble, either. I lived in Canoga Park for 20+ years, nears Saticoy and De Soto. We were just east of Variel, which was the eastern edge of the third highest crime reporting district in all of LA. (Canoga Park Alabama gang territory) My wife was happy that we were in the lower crime reporting area, to which I pointed out that that just meant they dragged the bodies a few feet west.

Haha! No thanks...I prefer to be the one launching rounds. Nothing like shooting right off your own front porch lol.

And back to out regularly scheduled program...

I've always had something for Willys Wagons and trucks. I had this '61 briefly before moving to Texas. All early Bronco running gear. These are the only pics I have, and I actually found them online posted by the former owner.

We used to do stupid stuff like racing from light to light on Van Nuys Blvd, and I know plenty of people who drag raced on Raymer St. I was on that scene in the early '70s until I joined the US Navy in late '72. I used to do it occasionally after I got off work from the shop I worked at in North Hollywood, in '76 after I got out of said Navy, in my '66 Le Mans that had a Ram Air III 400 in it. A real putter car, for sure. Cruising is totally outlawed on VNB, last I heard.

We were there about the same time. I never raced on Raymer street, but sure watched a bunch of races there. When Raymer would get too crowded, a few folks would head out to Wentworth Street in Shadow Hills. That was the first place that I witnessed a car running nitrous. It was a '68 or '69 Corvette and man was it fast!

I always liked the 78/79 Broncos. Stand out couple years between the bobtails and the sloped TTBs. They had all the cool trim packages that could carry over from the trucks. The only two years I see them as comparable to K5s... full size/solid front axle. The late-70s was a hey day in 4wd history. Things were bustin' wide open.

I always wanted to do a '77 front end on one.

I saw that tucked in the garage, too. I wanted to say something about everything you have shown in pictures. Love 'em all! Great stuff, well done. Talk about calling cards...
