Anyone need a 1954 Short Bed 3100 Chassis

I am looking to get rid of my truck frame. It’s a 3100 Short Bed from a 54/55 Series 1. I am located in Fort Worth TX.

I will try and get some pics up soon, but the rolling chassis is in very good shape.

someone in Texas was looking for a stock frame a while back. That will work under the earlier beds but you don't have as much space above the rear axle if you want to lower it due to less kick up. I have one under my 48.

I posted mine with orig drive train on craigslist and got a pile of $$. Had no idea they were worth anything.

Yeah I have had it on Craigslist, OfferUp and Facebook for about a month for $100, and no one is interested, so I put it on now for free, and scrappers want it. Really dont want to scrap the frame though, I figured someone would need it.

Wow. Everyone must be doing chassis swaps. Mine didn't last a day at $1500 back when. It was a rolling chassis tho.

Right, when I sold my last one, a guy bought it right away. Said he restores to original. But that was in Chicago, maybe the Texas scene is all custom. I think I might save the front axle and the frame and scrap the rest. I’m not too far from Sid, I would rather drive up and just give him the axle then have it go to a scrap yard.

Sign of the times restoration seems boring to most and restomods are all the rage. The Velocity channel is fueling the trend (with a blow torch). As all trends restoration will be popular again (and very expensive) as all the chassis and driveline parts disappear. I personally hated the original tech. The torque tube being at the top of the list.

"Sign of the times" is the cold hard fact that this is a dying hobby..

I think it was Car & Driver that did a survey and came up with with the results that 58% of the folks working on cars are of the Baby Boomer Generation.. Depending on where you look the Baby Boomer generation ended in the 1959-65 era.. So if that is true we are looking at folks that are now at least 53 years old..

I'm in that 1959-65 group and I can only think of one other guy that I graduated with that is working on any projects and that is a Fox body that his brother bought new before he was killed..

I remember the days where you would drive down the road and you would always see people on a Friday or Saturday night wrenching on something in their Garage/Barn or Driveway..

If you were working on your ride and needed a part or a bolt there was always someone would have whatever it was you needed or could hook ya up somebody in a few calls.

The good ole days are gone!

Haha well I'm 30 and keep the old sixes and carbs with my pickups. So there's still some that got the bug and it sometimes skips generations. I got the wrenching bug from my grandpa.

Small world, my grandfather raised me in Kempner. Skipped a generation and now in the one in the garage every Friday night.

I'm keeping my stock frame for the time being, I took the rolling my frame from my 93 GMC to the scrap yard and got $300 for it.

A guy came and picked it up, was driving a shortbed C-10 so hopefully he will use it. But at least I got 50% of my garage space back, so progress can continue.
