67 shorty supposed to be "just a shop truck"

hey guys , figured id share my build / progress on my 1967 chevy truck
I've always been a truck guy. I've had s10 extreme , colorado extremes and f150
harley davidson . which all very sporty/fun trucks . after having these trucks . i ended up getting a subaru wrx which was a blast to drive. but being a car guy i didn't have a box to haul car parts and big items , which brought on the hunt for a 67-72 chevy truck , i wanted a short box and a bit of a driver . after acouple weeks looking i found a 67 chevy c10 short box that was lowered and the "look"
that i wanted for my parts getter . after lots of phone calls and pics the deal was made , the truck was 2 provinces away (1300 kms ). so me and brother took my car out there for a fast 2 day road trip and picked it up and raced back home .

283 sbc , th350, riding on 20's very big static drop(5/7?) , riding on the bump stops in the rear , looks cool rides like crap

heres a pic getting gas at one of the last gas stops on the way home .
did test the lights when we test drove it, really rolled the dice that it would make it home . it made it home with no big issues

Re: 67 shorty supposed to be "just a shop truck"

i bought this truck in the end of sept 2014, i was able to drive it for a couple weeks before the snow fall. on the way to the family shop where the truck was gonna sit for the winter , the truck was back firing and lots of blow by . the following spring ended up getting a new carb and a bit of tune up , after 2 weeks of driving it with lots of blow by and a the main seals leaking , i ended up parking it for awhile , where it sat in the drive way all summer.

Re: 67 shorty supposed to be "just a shop truck"

after lots of back and forth trying to decide on what was gonna replace the worn out 283 , i was torn between a crate 350 from jegs , or go new school ls power.
after searching on kijijj " our craigslist in canada " i found a ls1 with a cam and some head work and a t56 with a monster clutch from a camaro that was pushing 450 hp , that was still in the car . that we hear and go for a power ride , just about crapped my pants after the joy ride , thinking about what that would be like in the ol c10.
came with no wiring or computers or accessory drive

Re: 67 shorty supposed to be "just a shop truck"

well after getting my garage back it was time to start wrenching the on truck , got the front end off and the 283 out and the th350, i noticed that one of the the front shocks were broken, our streets are really bad here.
it was time to figure out whats the best plan for the the suspension for a upgrade i knew i didn't want to stick with the manual steering and brakes. i wanted go more reliable route . with ls engine i wanted everything to match up with that level of performance.
i have a couple co workers that are into mini trucks and air bags , i was close to going with the porter built or the new choppin block suspension.
after hearing about the other guys at work with sports cars (mustangs , corvettes , challengers and camaros renting out a local track to have track day
that sounded like more fun.
so after acouple months of deciding what and waiting for our dollar to climb
i ended up going with the No Limit eng wide ride and the fat bar 4 link

its great to see some other manitoban's on the board and what there building
cant wait to see some of them in person.
I've been kinda garageless for acouple years. making up for lost time
feels like a starting over from scratch with this truck.
my buddy has a 67 gmc that really got me into these trucks that we worked on it lots in high school and after high school. it feels like this is my 2nd time building a c10 lol

Re: 67 shorty supposed to be "just a shop truck"

nothing really big to report.
i did end up getting the sand blaster out and blasted the firewall and the cowl and parts the door jambs.

i did make a very big mess. i try really hard to keep very little in the garage to keep the workplace more open. so clean up wasn't that bad

Re: 67 shorty supposed to be "just a shop truck"

i am gonna be spending the next couple days sand the inside of the cab , theres 3 coats of paint in there , blue , some orange and someone brushed on black paint, just eating sand paper. the sand blaster woulda been a better way to do that. i was having moisture problems didn't want to hassle with that

Re: 67 shorty supposed to be "just a shop truck"

Great work!!!
I've had too many things tore apart at times. I'm trying to stay away from that situation, I try to do work to my stuff that can be tore apart and put back together in no more than 2 weekends, back to back....

Re: 67 shorty supposed to be "just a shop truck"

started installing the wildwood brakes , have to cut the spindles for the rotors and calipers to fit . the hardware that came with the wildwood kit doesn't fit the the spindles gonna need some new bolts for the adaptor plate for the calliper and bore out the spacers and recounter sink the mounts
the wilwood kit also didn't come the supplied seals for the hubs. what is a piss off have to wait 6 business days for them to show up from a outside parts supplier wildwood wouldn't help.
