Greetings from SoCal!

Hey everyone! I moved from Colorado to Fontana, California almost four years ago and did a straight trade for a 1971 C10 long bed a few months after we moved here. My basic vision for the truck is to convert it to a short bed and do a 4/6 static drop. Between then and now I’ve acquired a ‘67 short bed frame and a relatively rust free ‘70 cab to use for sorting out some hidden rust that bubbled up through the paint after I got the truck. I’ll start posting pics soon and as the build progresses. Looking forward to meeting some like minded C10 enthusiasts!

Re: Greetings from SoCal!

Welcome to the addiction. I've spent some time in Fontana myself. I had relatives there. And I would go to the speedway. It sounds like your ahead of the game with already having the frame and cab. Plenty of very knowledgeable folks here to lend a hand.

Re: Greetings from SoCal!

Thanks for the welcome guys! Here are a few pictures for you. First two are the 71 long bed that is the starting point for the project. Third pic is the short bed frame. The last two pictures show the now c-notched short bed frame with the donor cab on it.

Re: Greetings from SoCal!

So I have a 9” rear axle I’m going to use in the build and as of yet haven’t been able to source axle perches that will work. Lots of options out there for a 3” axle tube but the Ford axle has a 3.25” tube and all the Ford perches available are for leaf spring applications. The problem is the cutouts in the trailing arm perches need to be slightly elliptical and offset from each other the due to the fact the trailing arms are angled outward. If push comes to shove I’ll fabricate them but if someone knows of a supplier that sells them that would be awesome!
