Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

So I have had this truck for about 6 months now. It was an Ebay purchase. The truck was what I call "Ghetto bagged" with some cool 22" steel wheels and a rebuilt original 350. Since I have had it, I have completely gone over and redone the airbag system, mini notched the frame, and put on some better suspension components. I have been buying and collecting parts for the build now. What i want in the end is a functional daily driver that lays frame. I will keep the patina. I want a truck I can drive and use for work that I don't have to worry about a ding or scratch here or there. The little things I have done now are temporary upgrades just so it was safe and drivable. Eventually the truck will be four linked with monster notch and a Porterbuilt drop member up front.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Over the last 2 days, I have removed the factory fuel tank and put on a new frame mounted one. I have also started replacing the cab corners. The seat will be off the upholsterers shop for a new cover.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Thanks to everyone watching. I did some work on the truck today. Pulled the front clip off and the radiator. I am getting the truck ready for the new aluminum radiator with electric fans and March serpentine kit. I am also relocating the battery to the rear frame rails. I am waiting on the parts for all that. Tomorrow I will work on the truck again. I will drop the exhaust, place new carrier bearing cross member, and place new shorty headers. Hope to get all that done. I need to start running all new airbag lines too.

Thanks and congrats on Truck of the Year. I actually had a question for you. ON your truck you moved the carrier bearing cross member forward an inch. What was the reason for that? I have the same crossmember installed today. I to will eventually put a parallel four link in with it.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

I'm working on getting a automatic transmisson for the truck now. I will be dropping the old three on a tree out soon. I have decided to go with a th350 with a Lokar floor shifter. Tomorrow I will pick up my seat from the upholstry shop. I will post some pics. This truck will be put back together and drivable soon with some new goodies. Then its off to the DMV for registration and a phone call to Porterbuilt for the phase two build.

What did you do with the old seat cover? I'm trying to find one in black with the same pattern in the material.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Yep, I remember the truck from ebay. I realize the cover is a different color and in bad shape but I was wondering if I could some better detailed shots that I could take to an upholsterer to see if they can find a match. Or better yet, if you were going to trash it, I'd pay for shipping so I could show it to the shop in person.

Cool! Thanks a bunch.

Also, looking forward to seeing what you do with this truck. Are you going back with the same color seat?

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Is this crossmember specific to this manual transmission? I need to remove this for the automatic th350 and add a new aftermarket crossmember right? I do already have the CPP transmission crossmember on hand.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

Today I was able to get the March pulleys on the motor, cut out the old manual transmission crossmember, and place a compressor/tank bracket. The new trans will be ready Monday. Too bad I work on monday. I wont be able to touch my truck till Tuesday. Soon as the trans is in, I will be able to get the truck back together and up and running again. Phase 1 of the build will be mostly done. Phase 2 will be some time in the summer most likely. I will add a vintage air before summer. It's too hot out here in Vegas.

Re: Project "Blackbeard" 69 C-10

It has been hard to get time to work on my truck this week. I was able to yesterday for a few hours. I managed to get a few things done. The new trans is in now with the Lokar shifter. I was able to pull out the clutch pedal, put the new shorty headers on, and place the serpentine belt on the motor. Today I will be able to get in a few more hours. Lets see what I can get done.
