Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.

The goal this holiday weekend was a lot of swimming pool and making the truck mobile again. We are not sure if the radiator is going to be adequate but have decided to give it a try. I had it altered to work (No thanks to those rip off jack-asses at Marietta Radiator) and everything fit tight but nicely. The new column looks great and the steering linkage went flawlessly from the aftermarket column, through the Chevy body to the dodge steering box. Today i plan on welding up the core support and inter cooler brackets so I can re-hang the grille and finish fabricating the front bumper brackets.

Awesome build, I love seeing fab work. I have a 2000 Ram 1500 with a 360, hmmm. What could I do with that in my 68 project truck ?

Mmmm, doubt that, it has just over a 100,000 on it and I have never had to work on the motor other than normal maintenance, I have had all different makes of vehicles and I have also had Chevrolet's I would have just as soon drove over a cliff as to fix it.

Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.

Fabrication of a battery box is taking place changing a passenger side tray to a drivers side tray. I am also working on swapping the computer controlled "dodge" alternator to a external voltage regulator. It is going to swap bays under its own power on Saturday! So excited!

BTW, GR8-68, I have you on my "block" list so I cant see what you are posting.

Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.

Which external voltage regulator do you plan to use? Dodge or Ford? I can provide a link for you to a place that offers an internal regulator that works great and is affordable too. We have put a few on and I like them a lot.

Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.

Here you go.

http://www.aspwholesale.com/index.ph...productId=8416

You might call them to make sure it will fit your alt. They had another one on their site but that page is blank now. I think it was for the 130amp alt though.

I've found the dodge external regulator causes the system to sort of surge. I quit using them and started using the ford ones. Then went to the internal one above in the link. It was actually cheaper than going with a ford one and the connector. Both this, and the ford style work great though.

Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.

Today it moved under its own power. I also converted a pass. side battery box to a drivers side box and got it bolted in. Time to start wiring and making it pretty! Next will be front bumper install and an attempt to blend the Dodge and GM HVAC.

Re: 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne K30 Extended Cab Dually REBUILD thread.

A new power steering pump and some dialing in on the injector pump. Modified both inner fenders, painted them and re installed. Sorted the AC lined and figured out where to blend the Dodge to Chevy. Now time to start wiring.
