Re: First time frame Z

Here it is prior to the Z.

The lines are power steering cooler. They are pre formed lines off a 2005 Cadillac CTS-V as is the power steering cooler. I had them left after I sold my V last summer. Heres a picture of the Cad.

Re: First time frame Z

For your first "Z", I'm am extremely impressed! You did your homework, and all of that extra planning and thought paid off.

I love the Porterbuilt and Scotts front suspensions, but I don't have that kind of budget. The beauty of a "Z" is that is costs practically nothing, gives you great ground clearance, and centers the wheels. You just have to do your homework. I did a "Z" on my '64 and went up 2" and forward 1", and all it cost was the steel to do the boxing plates.

Great work! This thread should become a good reference to anyone looking to do this job.

Re: First time frame Z

Thanks! I agree with all your comments.
If I was rich with money to burn I would have just went with a porterbuilt dropmember or one or the other high dollar options. As you said, cost with the Z is just a little steel and welding gas/wire. Ours my not look as fancy as theirs but you get some satisfaction out of actually building something, imho. Anyone can just bolt on a bunch of shinny new parts. P
