Is it worth the money?
Hey Folks! N00b here and found the site while doing some poking around.
Ran across a 93 ext cab for sale, $6300.00 Description given: Custom Chevy short bed.... shaved doors rear tailgate custom paint interior Custom 22" wheels includes spare to match Lt1 700r4 tranny 3000 stahl converter leather interior remote start heavy duty poppers hid head lights... truck is crazy you want attention then this truck is for you. asked a few questions got this:Has the lt1 motor stock... tranny 700r4 3000 stahl converter... no rust at all.. truck is originally from Georgia.. belltech suspension... Now I don't believe the 93's ever came with LT1's, am I correct in that? Also how streetable is a 3k Stall converter? I know some people say that is way too much while others say it's fine. Supposedly a GA vehicle with no rust. Truck could use some updating (Those wheels ) but if as described is this a screaming deal or about average? |

Re: Is it worth the money?
No trucks came stock with LT1. Prolly a bakers dozen 350. Also not gonna have a 700, inless swapped would be 4l60. IMO it's not s bad truck, wheels are hideous, and not into slammed below the road surface stance. But price doesn't seem too bad. Throw out 5 bills and see what he does.

Re: Is it worth the money?
FYI, the 700R4 was renamed 4l60 for 90-92. The 4L60E was introduced in 93.
However, someone could have swapped in a 700R4/4L60 when the engine was changed. LT1 were only put in cars,(Corvette, Camaro, Caprice). Some people like them, some people don't(I don't, but that's just me. I think there are better ways to get LT1 power out of a conventional small block) As far as pricing, its up to you. You cant build a truck like that for 6,300. The quality of the body work/paint would be the big factor. Other stuff is relatively inexpensive. I like the look of the truck, except for the wheels, they aren't my taste, but that's ok. |

Re: Is it worth the money?
Sounds to me like a full on custom truck with custom driveline like find a wrecked Vette/Camaro, Impala Ss etc and grab the LT1 engine/wiring/pcm, have a local shop(like Nyland here) build a Street/Strip HD700R4 and bolt it all in and go have fun!
Is it worth what the sellers asking? If he has documentation for all what's been done and all the parts used and IF it was all rebuilt before installation then I would say yes! If you have nothing but his word you could be buying a high mileage LT1 or 260 cid one mated to either the stock trans with an unstreetable stall converter just thrown together for bragging right so run, not walk away no matter the price. Your looking at a custom vehicle, everything good and bad with that comes with, what are you willing to pay for the privlege and headache is what it's worth IMO Last edited by rickpilgrim; 02-26-2017 at 07:20 PM. |

Re: Is it worth the money?
Haha, that's not even close to slammed. That thing would go down the road without scraping anything, ever. That's lowered at best
Personally, I wouldn't buy something with the 2nd gen Lt1. GenI small block yes, gen III LS yes, LT's no thanks. You can get the same performance from a GenI without all the specific LT things like optispark.
