RailRoad Sign

I picked this sign up at an auction for cheap and was gonna sell it but my wife wants to put it up in the living room. So if you guys was todo that what would you do to it. I am thinking of cleaning it up and shooting the entire thing with clear coat.

Re: RailRoad Sign

Think I may just clean it with soap and water and forget the clear coat

Re: RailRoad Sign

I'd wash the loose stuff off and hang it.I had a buddy in HS and we "picked up" a sign that said "Rubber tired Vehicles on this roadway only".It's from the era when tractors had steel wheels.About 5-6 years ago I had a chance to visit. He wasn't home but it was hanging on his wall still when I was talking to his wife. He's never done anything to it but hang it and dusted it only when he moved.

Re: RailRoad Sign

I just had a few of those, even the older ones with the glass marbles. These are heavy signs. looks like your sign got switched around at one point. I think the "crossing" is upside down. Neat sign

Here, I fixed it for you! This is the correct way it is to be displayed.

Re: RailRoad Sign

Thats cool. I've got a huge enamel SNCF sign (Societe Nationale de Chemin de Fer, French state railways) but its just a place name not a crossing sign.
