Squeaky truck
I have a 1970 3/4 ton GMC Custom Camper that has been squeaking like crazy when I turn the wheel left or right. Noise is intermittent and there is no rhyme or reason. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with weather, temperature or whether it is warmed up or not. Truck drives and runs extremely well, it just sounds funny.
I have greased everything I can find under the truck and it didn't seem to solve the problem. Any ideas? Thanks in advance |

If it still has the original pitman arm &/or idler arm they can cause that. The originals do not have grease fittings. The replacements generally do have grease fittings.

If it is like George says with no lube fittings on the parts, try a little penetrating lubricant sprayed on them one at a time until the bad boy shows up. If they're the culprits, they'll quiet down. Might take a day or two for the lube to work, though.

When I got my '67, the idler arm was bent and rubbing against the cross member (if I recall correctly). Would squeak like heck when turning. I removed it and straightened it. No more noise. Just a thought.

Check your upper and lower ball joints they can also make the noise. You can also isolate the noise with a stethoscope for a auto parts store
