holes in stepside bed sides

I am working on getting my stepside bed ready for paint and I am trying to figure out if some of the holes in the bedside should be filled in. There are two near the front of the bed and two near the back of the bed near the tailgate. Could some of you who have stepsides look at these pictures and tell me if you think these holes are non-stock and should be filled in?

Thanks! Here are the two at the front of the bed.

Re: holes in stepside bed sides

I don’t have a stepside that year but none of those look like factory holes. Probably drilled in to put tie downs to. They are not round holes and the paint is chipped as if they were drilled after painting too

Re: holes in stepside bed sides

I just had my step side painted and mine had holes in it also that we welded shut, but not any where your are. In the last 50 years we don't know what PO's have done to these trucks. I would weld them shut.

Re: holes in stepside bed sides

I have holes in mine too. Left them cause I may need to tie downs at one point for one of my old motorcycles. Mine are low front and rear
