Use a 200r4 trans center support seal (see pic) to help seal the center support to case on your 4L80E. This will help eliminate any cross leaks on your center support. It fits good into the 4L80E case and seals nicely against the center support. The trans will tell its grand kids you cared. Good Luck !!!
That is a good tip. Thanks young pup, I have one of those plugs in my kit from Jakes Performance I'll definitely be using it.

I ordered my converter from Precision Industries a triple disk torque converter with a stall around 1500 rpm with strong mid range to multiply the torque as much as possible in the 2200 rpm range. I already received it! PI is fast!!

If only Jakes Performance will send my direct super drum I ordered about 44 days ago!! They have my money I just need them to send me the super drum that they owe me.

Thanks young pup, as much hassle it's been to get 4l80e performance parts plus information. It's pretty much taken the fun out of it. A 5 speed allison would not of been a bad idea.

Does your 4l80e have the cooler line return going into the center support ?

Re: 4l80e Rear case bushing

Young Pup, it does have the cooler return to the center support. I can't say I'd have the patience to do a Allison swap at the moment. Haha...

I have new dilemma, the first the 36 element super drum will only hold 5 clutches vs the stock that holds 6 without the wave. From what I read 5 should be fine but I could machine it to get the clearance. Thinking ill stick with 5.

But the main delima is the TCS planetary I ordered didn't have the lubrication slots in it. Which means that the front bushing thrust bearing on the forward drum would fail due to lack of lubrication. I called TCS they seem like they are going to take care of the issue. This is painfully taking to long. Lol....

I am ready to drive my truck again.

It's more of daily / good weather driver. I enjoy driving it to the local car shows here and there. I also plan to do some towing with it every now and then. I plan to squeeze a little more power out of the Cummins 12 Valve and get down on it from time to time.

Update on the transmission build. The superdrum that Jakes Performance sent was not what I expected. I thought I would get a custom built in house by Jakes stock drum with a 36 element sprag but after waiting 45+ days really all it is a BTE TH400 drum 36 element drum. I decided against running it due to the fact it comes with 5 Red Raybestos clutches for the intermediate (special clutches and steels for the larger sprag hub), only holds 5 direct clutches but on my center lubed tranny I only have enough room for 4 intermediate cluches and these 4 clutches have slightly less clutch material than the BW Hi energy factory clutches. I am thinking that this super drum may be ok on a 91-96 unit but not on a center lube that requires the use of intermediate wave plate. If my stock 34 element fails hopefully I can get a super drum that fits the stock intermediate clutches from CK Performance.

I decided not to run the Jakes re calibration shift kit. I am thinking that hard shifts on a heavy tranny will most likely kill the 34 element and be harsh on hard parts.

I know a lot of people on here and other sites think very highly of Jakes Performance but I am here to say it has been one of the worse experiences with parts that I have had! The guy who placed my order has very little knowledge of transmission building and Jake I guess is to busy to give you a few minutes of his time to help you get what you need and not sell you things that you dont need.

My Experience with TCS in Canada wasn't great as well.
I called them back about the planetary I purchased from them not having the lube slots cut in shown in their picture on their websire. Explaining that on the 1997 and up need these slots in order to lubricate the bushing and thrust bearing in the forward drum. Without these slots on a 97 and up unit the bushing and bearing would very quickly destroy their planetary, and the foward drum at a minimum.
Basically to be told they don't build transmissions and the picture is old they have sold bunches of these without lube slots with no issues and the best they can do is allow me to send it back. After studying this issue I believe that running a hollow main shaft would allow lubrication to the forward clutch bushing and thrust with out the lubrication holes. So since the Jakes performance main shaft is hollow (The Jakes performace billet main shaft was also .110 longer that the orgininal and hollow and had to be shortened to keep from it bottoming out on the input shaft)

Re: 4l80e Rear case bushing

As mentioned earlier I kept all the accumulators active. Drilled the feed holes slightly larger, like 0.082 2nd, 0.096 3rd, 0.078 fourth. I am happy with the way it shifts. I left the check out to speed up reverse engagement. Pretty much kept the factory check balls. I am happy with it. Final end clearance was .008 in the rear and 0.012 on the front.

Shootracing, would you be the guy that everyone is talking about on this forum to ask transmission questions. Just wondering who to work with on this forum with transmission issues. Thanks.

If you're workingon a 4l80e I might be able to help. Kawabuggy is very helpful also.

[QUOTE=95 S_Trucker;8289261]Let's calm down a little bit. Captain fab is one of the most knowledgeable and nicest people on this forum. I can honestly say he would still be here if he wasn't a vendor.

You stated that you were an experienced transmission builder, and then you stated there aren't any transmission builders on this forum.

We are just trying to understand what you are saying. You are lying or contradicting yourself.[/QUOTE

This is what people call harassing members on this forum in my opinion.

It's not harassment. We are here to help people. I am not going to say something rude for the sake of saying something rude. I am not going to spread false information. I am not going to argue with somebody.

You are on this forum. You stated that there aren't any transmission builders on this forum. Then you said you are an experienced transmission builder.

That is a contradiction.

If you want to see harassment, go look at post #9.

Re: 4l80e Rear case bushing

And what is Post #5.... and tell me in this "thread" does it state I say I am a experienced builder...
so what if I am a experienced builder or not, who cares about that....is there a criteria that needs to be met on YOUR forum ?
Hey trucker, you are arguing the point about contradiction. What’s the damn point dude. Get a life !!!! This forum is lame as hell to say the least.
