Rear wheel hub bearing surfaces

On this new to me '67 the rear bearing surfaces are pretty scarred up, what's the best way to remedy this?

Re: Rear wheel hub bearing surfaces

It looks to me like the surfaces where your bearings ride are OK, Those need to be good. Might check that. I'm not familiar with 20 and 30 series stuff.

I'm guessing there was moisture in the oil, AND/Or some of the gears lubes are corrosive. It might of had the incorrect lube in it, for a long time. Folks back in the day used what ever they had. If it said gear oil, it GOT used....

Re: Rear wheel hub bearing surfaces

Where the bearings sit is smooth ,both of my c20 trucks look the same . The rough area doesn't need to look pretty as it's not in contact with anything .not rust on it just brown grease

Re: Rear wheel hub bearing surfaces

Check the fit of the bearing on the surface . The beaing should be tight where the bearing seats. That inner ring doesn't rotate the bearing spin in the cup and race.
