10SI alternator DA plug wire colors reversed?
I'm in the process of converting a 6 volt truck over to 12 volts.
I'm going with a 10SI alternator for a 78 Camaro. I picked up this DA plug at the same time I picked up the alternator. Since this plug will only plug into the 1 & 2 socket on the alternator one way. It throws your RED wire on the #1 pin and WHITE wire on the #2 pin. Isn't that REVERSED? Are am I missing something? By all that I've studied and looked at it has anyway. My truck is a 51 GMC with a 62 Chevy 235 motor. The fuel gauge and heater are currently unwired until I decide which route I'm going with them. I have a light and volt meter wired in.

looks righ per diagram. Why not wire it with the three wire setup as designed?

I just used a small blade screw driver and reverse the wires in the plug so that they do connect up to their right prong. White - #1 & Red #2. I don't know what effect it would cause to have the #1 prong going to the battery and the #2 to your light and ignition switch but all the drawing I've been looking at show that is reversed using that plug.

That diagram has White-1 and Red-2
What you might be seeing is where they have it going to the power post on the alternator. |
