A/C condenser

Need to replace the condenser in my newly aquired 94. Rock auto shows 2, parallel flow and serpentine. How do I tell the difference.

Re: A/C condenser

In 1993, the big switch from R-12 to R-134 occurred. R-12 utilized the serpentine system condenser. R-134 best operates with the parallel system. You can use either style condensers for either gas, but the heat exchange capability is what makes the condenser efficient.

So if you are running R-134, then use a parallel condenser for optimum performance.

Telling them apart from the outside, look at the vertical end tanks. Most common serpentine will have the loops on the end. Some manufacturers makes the loop really small, called micro loops or micro condensers, and you may not see the obvious end tank loops, thus harder to ID
