Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

Well I got the doghouse on, and wire and installed the headlights and turn signals, and started wet sanding the fenders.

Very Nice combination with the "smoothness" of the top of the engine against the perfect firewall!!!!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

Thanks guys. Not sure if I'm going to keep those headlight bezels body color. Those are the originals. I went ahead and painted them to see if I like it knowing I could easily add chrome ones later. But I'm starting to like it. Once I add the bumper I will decide.

Yep I'm leading towards keeping it the way it is. I'm not really a chrome guy. I like grilles and bumpers thats it for me.lol Once the bumper is on I will know for sure. I may end up painting the bumper body color, but that opens another can of worms like what about the rear bumper if I decided to run one. Oh there I go getting ahead of myself.lol

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

yeah, me too. I may paint the trim some sorta crisp white and see if I like it. mine is a 57 gmc so that would be a lot of chrome out front.
not even CLOSE to that point yet.

Today I managed to get my 5 minutes in the shop. Was able to stretch it out to 2hrs and 45 minutes. Yahoo. Working on finned aluminium valve covers to replace the chromed steel ones.

Yep, my five minutes was about 20, got the floor underside all seam sealed, I AM ready to prime it now. Tomorrow, or the next morning I am thinking.

Yes, your truck is sweet! I'm so tired of block sanding that I can't see straight! But someday mine will hopefully look that good!

Yeah block sanding is not fun at all but the end result is well worth the effort. I blocked the heck out of all the parts you see painted and still have doors (first round of blocking done), and the bed, and tubs. I will hopefully get the doors painted and installed over the holidays.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, Part 3

The hard part for me is to NOT make it look that nice! My truck on this, it's third and final build will be a driver. I have enjoyed driving my Rambler so much being it's not nice, I just drive it, I love it. When my truck was real nice I couldn't leave it places without worrying about it. I don't want to have to worry about it, just DRIVE IT. But damn it's not easy when Bam is throwing that beautiful art out here for us to see.

Haha, Ya. Nothing like cramming 5 minutes into 2hr and 45 min. All to common

Didn't work ON the truck but got everything ready to get up in the morning and prime the underside of the floor.

I would think that still counts. I would give you points for effort.

Oh yeah, I count it. ANYTHING I do related to moving the truck forward is counted.

So I set the alarm for about 15 minutes early this morning at 6:10 so I can get out in the garage and prime the underside of the floor of the cab so it can sit all morning with the heat lamps on. I am out there doing this when I look up at the clock to make sure I am not running late and it's 5:45. Ok, I think I must have not changed the clocks off daylight savings time in the garage, but darn it, I thought I did, hmm. I go in the house and it's 6:00! I messed up and changed the hour to wake me up at 5:10, geeeeez. Well, at least I don't have to rush and have time to wash the dishes that I missed falling asleep on the couch last night.

I'm thinking it was a blessing Jim, I am putting a second coat on right now, taking my time. When I do this in the morning I am usually running like a chicken with my head cut off.
