Re: 1963 C-10 panel shop truck

Doobie, I had the same one in my 61 apache 10 truck and it worked pretty good on my T350. The bend of the shaft would hit the seat in Low and be close to the dash if I tried to angle it forward so, I found my self shifting with my hand on the seat and it worked.
I had a little tiki head which looked cool painted flake red to match the steering wheel which was the same as yours.

Re: 1963 C-10 panel shop truck

Had one in my 66 Burb. Only problem I had was at 65MPH. Hit a pothole. Shifter was too top heavy and slammed into reverse. Kids in the back seat went flying. Made a stubby out of it after that.

Anybody like to share any comments on American Shifter Co. product? Here's a blurry pic..sorry..
Very cool project you have going on here. I am looking to do a similar build with my '62. I am looking at getting a shifter just like you have pictured. Is that the 23" double bend in your photo? That is just about the same height that I am looking for. Why is the Gennie your favorite? I stumbled upon the Lokar ones and like their other products, but would be willing to try out other companies based on the opinions here. Sorry for all the questions, Much Appreciated.

I like the Gennie better and I like the quality better..going strong for 3 yrs with no problems..Also like the way it detents out of park by pushing it to the left to unlock it from park..here are sum pics of the Gennie shifter 23" swan leg on my 60 stepper..

Re: 1963 C-10 panel shop truck

Thanks for the quick answer, I forgot to mention I'd rather not have one where you have to push a button to shift it in and out of gears, but rather one where you move it to the side, thus allowing the use of just about any shift knob too.

Re: 1963 C-10 panel shop truck

2 Summers ago I transported the panel to a friends back yard shop across the street. My friend who was unemployed at that time took the project with his father. Body work was very slow but the owner was in no hurry.

Re: 1963 C-10 panel shop truck

I never forget the day I was coming back home from town 2 yrs ago and at a distance I see huge smoke in the sky. As I'm getting closer I get a phone call from my brother in law and tells me there is a big fire and explosion across the street.
2 days later me and the owner saw this.

Re: 1963 C-10 panel shop truck

I read this last night before bed, I had nightmares of burning trucks.
The first thing i did this morning was make sure all my fire extinguishers were where they should be.
