Getting ready for single stage

Getting ready to spray my truck with a single stage gloss black from Eastwood in the next few days or so. I’ve been back and forth on satin black from John Deere to tractor supply to Rust-Oleum. I finally decided with all the work I’ve put in to spend a little more and go gloss with Eastwood. At least I’ll have something I can polish and wax. It’s gonna be a 20 footer, as I’ve never paInted or done bodywork before. I’ve been learning along the way. It’s been fun, tiresome and at times, aggravating lol 😂. Anyways, I’m looking forward to getting a product out there.

I painted a 72 blazer once and it was one of the first ones I did top to bottom on my own.

It turned out awesome with and I used acrylic enamel paint. All my buddies were impressed and most said, "Let's paint my truck now".

Except for one guy who does the work for a living and he is really good. Show car type good, really good. He walked up and asked if I put the shiny side down on purpose.

It pissed me off for a second but in that second I said, "F-you, it is mine".

He has never critiqued my work since. LOL

Unless the wife goes into labor in the next 24 hours, I’m gonna spray in the morning. I’m gonna go at it around 0500 before it gets hot and the bugs are out. I’ve done a rehearsal of how I’m gonna spray and I’m gonna do one full rehearsal with the wife helping tonight. (No worries, I have a mask for both of us) if it turns out bad it’ll be because I stink, not because I didn’t practice.

Odds are you are creating another truck junkie with a pregnant wife working on the truck. Just saying.

Not getting all sappy but save that picture. Someday it will be worth millions.

And agreed with the other post, labor will be induced by the first coat.....LOL

Go for it!.. that is, if you have not already. Nothing to fear for you, but I'd keep your wife and unborn kid away from the paint booth. That little one could do without the fumes!

Things are on hold for now. God has blessed my family with this little miracle. His momma was a trooper. I’m so proud of the both of them.

Well, plans changed a bit. Realizing my bodywork was not good enough for black, I decided on another color and 2 stage paint. I will be laying a matte clear sometime tomorrow and shooting my jambs and the interior of my doors. I shot the paint with a harbor freight purple gun and a central pneumatic 21 gallon compressor. I had coupons for both. The gun was $9.99. It laid the paint down wonderfully in my humble opinion.
