Will 275 Tires Fit in Rear of Fleetside?

This is a direct question which I have yet to find and answer to in all the tire/rim threads on this site (my eyes are bleeding from reading!).

Will a 275/60/15 tire fit inside the rear wheel well of a 1973 fleetside shortbox? Tires will be mounted to 15x8 rally wheels (4" back spacing).

Yes, they should depending on your offset because I have a set of 295/50 15R on my 15x10 rallies.

Re: Will 275 Tires Fit in Rear of Fleetside?

I had 275/60s on stock 15x7 rallies on my fleetside with no trouble. there wasn't tons of room but there was nothing to worry about

Re: Will 275 Tires Fit in Rear of Fleetside?

thats a 28" tall tire

i have a 85 fleetside short bed lowered 2.5" all 4 corners . stock 88-98 ss truck rims now and roller tires i clear 31x10.50x15 mud tires . my truck has a 3 leaf rear spring setup so its not to tall in the rear like some with 4 or 5 leaf .

just whats on it when i got it . using them for rollers till ready for drive time then going the 275/60/15 size . i already have 1 bfg radial ta in this mounted on a 15x8 pickup ralley wheel and tested no problems.

I failed to mention that the truck is lowered (5/7) but it shouldn't matter as long as the width clears the wells.

Re: Will 275 Tires Fit in Rear of Fleetside?

I have 275/60r15 tires on 8inch rallys on a 3 inch lowered fleetside. Tons of room in the back. Front may rub if I lower more

Re: Will 275 Tires Fit in Rear of Fleetside?

Wow! I haven't been on here for a while now.

Here you go. 275 60 15 on 15x8 with room on both sides to put my fingers, but I don't remember the wheel backspace.

I hope this helps.

Re: Will 275 Tires Fit in Rear of Fleetside?

I'm running these on my Fleetside and I couldn't go any wider. 0 spacing.

Front Wheels Ridler Style 695 Grey Wheel with Machined Lip (17x8"/5x127mm)
Rear Wheels Ridler Style 695 Grey Wheel with Machined Lip (18x9.5"/5x127mm)

215/55R17 = 26.3x8.5R17

235/50R18 = 27.3x9.3R18

I know yours are higher but these are almost 11" wide at the side walls.

Just as SCOTI and others have said, no problems with a 275. Here's a 285/50 on one my trucks with 1" of room at least.

Re: Will 275 Tires Fit in Rear of Fleetside?

I have a 4 / 6 drop (flip kit) and 295 -45 /20 on the rear with 20X10 wheels with 5" BS.The tires are very close to the wheel well lips (less than little finger) and I built an aluminium angle device to prevent the sharp edges from cutting the tires. I have yet to rub as best I can tell. No marks on the tires. Been this way for 10+ years. Rear end is reasonably centred but not perfect.
Works for me.
