Question problem with shifter

i have a tilt column i'm gonna put in my truck but the problem is the shifter. you dont have to pull it back to take it out of park, just give it a slap and off we go! i cant have that because i have a little girl and that wont be safe. i think a new shifter handle might fix it but not sure, for that matter i've never tore apart a column! any help will be greatly appreciated

I think the little spring on the actuall shifter arm on the side of the tranny is what causes the shifter to return to the 'lock' position. Some one had a pic a while ago...

if you find the answer, let me know, i have the same problem, only mine's not tilt. Big bumps will drop me a gear and i'm scared for my transmission and the rest of my drive train. (my son also has this effect on it)
