Honda Accord body repair: panel bond
I apologize if I've already asked about this....
My 2002 Honda Accord body has begun to go but Honda's all seem to go in one place, the left rear quarter panel. I have a cut out from a body man in Billings to go in (OEM from a 1998 Accord). Local body man wants to use "panel bond." I'd prefer he plug weld also but he isn't keen on the idea. I know modern bodies are thinner than our trucks and harder to weld. Is panel bonding a good idea for this? Thoughts? |

If it isin't being but welded, I think you would be better off with the panel bond. The stuff is really string, and I think you have a better seal between the 2 panels so moisture doesn't get in.

Re: Honda Accord body repair: panel bond
If it's not structural I'd rather do the bonding. Make sure he does a good primer on back side of both parts. The door hinges on 88+ GM trucks are bonded.
My Accord rusted on right side, between wheel well and door then up. It's gone to a new home now since I bought an Escape

Re: Honda Accord body repair: panel bond
Thanks guys. I guess panel bond is going to be fine. At least no worries of warping the metal from too much heat.
I want to get this done before fall is out. My car runs so well, I have no desire to see her go for at least another 100,000 miles. Rust is on left rear quarter panel and is moving forward. I have a cut out from a rust free 1998 Honda Accord from Montana. |
