Re: off it goes

Just wondering if you have done anything with the tailights to fit tighter in the body or a nicer fit around the body lines ?I was just trying to polish the old lenses and noticed there was room for improvement.I watch too much Chip Foose shows

Very interesting question. I have thought about this myself a few times already but never got around to work on that. It would be interesting to see if the variations are so huge just from the factory (good fit to poor fit) or how this can be fixed the right and easy way.

Mine have at least a 1/4" gap all around them.

Re: off it goes

we have not done too much with his area yet.... the problem is if you lose that gap around the light then the body line on the tailgate will be out of place. As much as they don't line up it is supposed to match the tailgate, we will be definitely be cleaning this area up and making the fit better than factory.

Re: off it goes

You almost need to keep the factory lines and make a custom light lens that fits almost like the new windshields..if that makes sense... but that last pic is such a sexy pic of that truck... awesome work!

It's hard to believe how clean this truck already was! Since you can't keep your hands off things why not center the tail light in the white and do whatever it takes to keep the body lines matched up I've seen your work...I know you're good for it

Re: off it goes

That's a cool idea....but I think for two reasons I probably won't. The first being is if I keep doing all the subtle changes to improve the look of the truck I'll never be done, lol ( I want to drive this damn thing). The second I think my wife will kill me .....lol. She wants it done more than I do....

Jim, I pushed the tail light reflector tabs in just a bit. Tightens up the gaps a bunch

Looks so simple with photoshop, but man that's a lot of work!

Love the bumper detail too! Amazing what a difference something that seems so small makes!

Re: off it goes

just doing a little fine tuning the window openings....Hate the way the one piece glass gets 2/3 of the way down then starts to bind. We fixed that problem, also this way the window channels will be straight when installed

Before

After

Re: off it goes

Jim why couldn't you raise the bracket up a bit, so the plate is flush with the bottom of the bumper?

we did a lot work to the track, actually removed the rollers from the the piece windows and repositioned them to slide in the track and not bind. did a ton of metal work to both sides of the door so it's all straight now and actually did a little metal work on the curve of the window opening as well. it was a lot of work but the windows roll up down better than ever.

that's a cool idea but it would probably tuck some plate up behind the bumper, I'm just that guy if it needs to be on there I want to see it all or not at all. we have already trimmed the the black inner plate section down to the exact same size as the plate and rounded the corners to match the plate. That way you shouldn't see too much of it when we're done
