New starter. Previous one only lasted about three and a half years.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??

Removed the smog pump and associated plumbing from my no-longer-needs-to-pass-smog-test 88 today. While I was at it replaced the broken ground from firewall to back of passenger side head. Quieter engine and much better idle!

Cut off all the rivets holding the frame rails together so I can clean-box-paint the frame then use bolts when putting it back together,,, I have a second frame which I'm trimming down to use as plates to box the frame, damn thing has over a foot of flex stock, no good!

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??

I did new Raybestos unit bearings, rotors, pads, brake hoses, and an idler arm on my K2500 today. O yeah and a brake flush. Well still doing it. I'm waiting on my wife to bring pizza and to help bleed the brakes.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??

Well...
My a-arm bushing came to a screeching halt. Came apart good. Pulled old bushings, upper and lower no prob. Went together better than I thought. I even got saucy and cut half a coil... ooOOOooh!
Got interesting when I was going back together with everything.
For one thing, the old rubber bushings must have been well-worn. Arms with new bushings are a tight fit. Thats a good thing I suppose.
Then I tried putting the coil in. Ha! Whats the old G.I. Joe saying, "Knowing is half the battle!"
Should have picked up a coil spring compressor because i've pulled out about all of the remaining hair I had left.
Well of to the parts house soon as the wife gets home. Might pull an all nighter.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??

Ahhhh.... finally finished up with my 3 day extravaganza of replacing a-arm bushings.

Note: When your lower ball joint just won't come loose by popping side of spindle, DO NOT TRY AND GIVE JUST A "LOVE TAP" ON THE BALL JOINT SHAFT TO SEE IF IT WILL WORK!!!!!! You'll end up looking for a thread chaser.

Yes I just admitted to doing stupid things. I Am Man.

Re: What did you do yo your truck today??

The worst one is when someone tells you too screw the nut on so it's flush with the top of the joint shaft to give you a nice area to hit, sure it knocked the ball joint loose but spent a few hours cutting that damn nut and shaft off so I could start workin, morons-

Would they be the morons for giving stupid advice or am I for doing it?

Exp- my 96 3/4ton sub broke a half shaft, being my first crappy ass IFS truck I didn't know what to do so I go to autozone, I couldn't afford the shaft at the time so the manager tells me just pull it out and u can drive your truck, jackass didn't mention that it holds the brakes to the spindle ! So wheel breaks off while driving had to replace , lower arm, spindle, rotor, caliper, hose, fender, wheelwell, and my rim, dumbass cost me $800 two weeks and cost me a trip I had planned

Picked up a transfer case skid plate, a larger front skid plate from a later model Tahoe, some misc little parts from the junk yard.

Flat blacked my bowtie (got bored). Actually came out good. Thinking about doing the same to the faded/chipped chrome strip on the side molding.
