Pedal Stiffness (Really soft pedal)

I have a 2002 Duramax and the pedal is just incredibly soft. It offers almost no resistance to my foot to the point where my leg cramps within a minute of driving. My dad's '08 Suburban has a much stiffer pedal and I have no such problem. Is this just because of the large amount of miles on my truck (262k) or were all 99-06 pedals this soft? Were all 99+ pedals "drive-by-wire" or did they make that switch mid-body style?

All Duramax trucks are "drive by wire".

Common issue.....http://killerbeeperformance.com/tuni...pedal-springs/

Yeah, I was wondering if all 99+ were though so that if it was a problem with a worn out pedal I could just pull one out of a scrapped truck.

Most 99-02 gas trucks are "drive by cable", Higher end Denali's & SUV's with traction control are "drive by wire".
Starting in 03 all trucks went DBW.
I believe LB7's have a unique pedal & Gas pedals wont work.
