Just a heads up the shifting rods from a 67-69 chevy truck will not fit a 65 with a 68 3 speed transmission

Re: wtb shifting rods from a 67-72 3 speed

Those were 67-72 6cyl rods for 3spd, correct? And you are saying those will not work on a '65 with V8 and 3spd. So have you tried 60-66 V8 rods for 3spd? Is the engine mounted in the 6cyl position (dist. back into the firewall) or the V8 position?

Re: wtb shifting rods from a 67-72 3 speed

They will not work on my truck. I have a 350 with a 68 3 speed. The truck is a 65. The rods are too short and will not clear the firewall and the clutch z bar. I was under the truck a while trying everything to make them work. I have not tried the 60-66 v8 rods. I think the engine is in the 6 position but not sure. The original bell housing was in the truck when I got it bolted to the factory cross member right behind the engine.

Re: wtb shifting rods from a 67-72 3 speed

Are the engine frame stands in the front or rear holes? How much room between the distributor and firewall?

Re: wtb shifting rods from a 67-72 3 speed

The back holes but like I said the bell housing is bolted to the front cross member. It cannot move forward to my knowledge Any way I went today to buy a tranmission and driveshaft from a guy and ended up buying the whole truck so I will have everything I need to put the right 3 speed in it
