Mods on my GMC, a year later

Ive had my truck for almost a year now and just thought i'd put up some updated pics, a year later.

mods-
5% tint rear, 30% front, 8 inch brow
rhino liner
Probox 10 inch sub, jensen amp
TSC Black diamond plate toolbox
Black diamond plate bedrails
Straight pipes with 5 inch tips
Rough Country 2 inch leveling kit
265/70/r17 Hercules Trail Digger m/t
Park assist & seatbelt chime disabled

Its not much, but im happy with it!
Unfortunately a deer jumped into my door, so I have to get the small dent fixed and will get the truck debadged/demolded at that time
Id like to get it tuned one day, maybe some headers and cat. delete
Enjoy.

On the dealer lot

Brow

Bedliner

Pics from today, 25,000 miles and 1 year later

Well enjoy. I am always thinking of little mods I can do to make the truck better, If you have any ideas or critisism let me know!

Re: Mods on my GMC, a year later

I would do the headers, when you can. I did my 2011 GMC with a tune, CAI kit, Kooks Long Tube headers and 'Y' pipe, magnaflow muffler and dual 2 1/2" outlets on the exhaust. I also lowered mine 4" front, 6" rear and changed the side mirrors for a set from Street Scene. It runs great and works just fine. I now have just over 20,000 miles on it.

Re: Mods on my GMC, a year later

thats a slick truck. have you done any simple little mods to it? my favorite little mod by far was disabling the seatbelt chime.. it got annoying out in the pasture!

I enjoy doing subtle mods that are cheap and easy and make my truck just that much more unique

Re: Mods on my GMC, a year later

debadge it. gives it a nice smooth clean look, get some duplicolor truck bed liner in the spray can and spray the inside of the wheel wells front and rear. and under the cab rockers and cab corners. i did that to my 04 colorado and it made it easy to spray off at the carwash ofter going out in the fields. in other words it helped to delay the rust in all the normal areas.

On these trucks, the front wheel well is lined with a plastic liner and the rear is an open metal wheel well. I found that 3M makes a great undercoat that is spray on and it is really reasonable in cost. I have used it for years on other trucks.

I agree with the debadging and cleaning up of the so called "Factory" things that make it just another truck.

If you look at the picture of the truck above, I have taken the badging off, I have lowered it (the wife is short legged and she could not get into the factory height truck--thank you), I changed the air intake and the exhaust, to open it up and I got rid of the factory grille and put in an aluminum aftermarket grille. I do not have pictures of it, since the first changes were done. The picture above still has the factory exhaust on it, I now have duals going out the rear and they are hard to see. I also put a bed cover on it and an electric sliding rear glass on the cab. (Did you know that buying a standard cab from GM, you cannot get a sliding back glass according to the dealers)

Re: Mods on my GMC, a year later

All you need to debadge the truck, is a heat gun and some careful time for the side emblems and tailgate. No need to pay hard cash for that work To get rid of the emblem on the grille will take a replacement of the grille.

Re: Mods on my GMC, a year later

Yes, I've already done part of the tailgate, but my trim is hiding a dent. I can let the body shop debadge it and it will be cheaper than if they put the truck back stock.

Re: Mods on my GMC, a year later

Great looking truck... It does need a new grille.. I just put one of these in my 11 model and the wife bought me one for Christmas.. I would sell it for 250.00 plus the ride.. Cost me over $430 plus shipping...

It is a a Deanli Grille and is new from GM... Just thought I would share... They will charge me this much to restock it.. So I thought I would pass it on here..

I take paypal..

Did you install a leveling kit? If so, which one?

Yes, its the rough country 2". I recommend it to anyone. It was cheap, easy to install, and aligned back up perfect.

Re: Mods on my GMC, a year later

Thanks for the info.

Couple of questions...

- I assumed you had to align it at an alignment shop following installation right?
- Have you noticed an increase/decrease in fuel economy?
- Did it truly "level" out your truck? I konw of other kits that will raise the front and rear a little for some reason.
- Does this spacer mount at the top of the shock or bottom?

Thanks!

Re: Mods on my GMC, a year later

Align, yes.

Fuel mileage seemed the same, I went with a way heavy mud grip that affected it some.

My truck sits perfecly level

Mounts to the bottom, very easy

Re: Mods on my GMC, a year later

small update, I recently added a pioneer in dash touch screen, and true dual straights. It's a little loud, I need to add an X pipe to balance my sound out. I also dropped it off at the body shop yesterday to get my door fixed, and get it debadged. Pics soon!
