couple of questions

my 55 1/2 had some funky seatbelts in it that i dont plan on putting back in , my question is did any come from the factory w/seatbelts? i dont think they were standard , but maybe an option? and if my truck never had them am i going to get hasseled by cops abbout it? . next question did late 55's have turn signels or just running lights and brake lights?

Re: couple of questions

They did not have seat belts and in most state the truck would be exempt from the seat belt laws. Ssme with signal lights. My 58 had one tail light and brake light no signals and passed inspection.

if your truck is bone stock or mostly stock looking, i dont think the cops will care, now my truck is mild prostreet and if i didnt run belts i think the cops would care, alot. even for customized trucks, cops may care, but this is from an east coast guy, dont know how the west coast fuzz operates. sometimes i feel like it is up to what mood the cops are in, if his wife is pms'ing that day, expect a ticket. its always a good idea to run belts, belts save lives period, i know they are uncool. i know that if you put belts in your truck you have to use them. even if they didnt come with them originally.

Re: couple of questions

In my state, MIssouri, they are required in vehicles that came with them. Most trucks that I have been in at least from 68 did not have them. I know that my 1956 VW didn't have them nor does my 67 C10.
On that note I can tell you from my converstions with the MSHP that a child in a NEEDED car seat must have a seat and that seat must be buckled in not including the driver of the said vehicle. So no kids in my 67 as of now.
Don't get me wrong. When I "burried" the speedo in a 1956 vehicle I felt somewhat at risk without a belt on. I am older now. I almost feel naked without a seatbelt on now days. You can't go wrong keepin' your ass held inside during a crash.
My kids and myself are too important to not put belts on no matter what year of car. MY $.02
