Just gloating!

I just picked up a couple of nice parts!
The first one is a NOS dash bezel, silver painted-not chrome with the woodgrain face on it. Would this be a 67-68 item with just the silver paint?
Second, a set of 5 NOS "hockey puck" light assemblies with the lenses.
Thirdly, another set of NEW lenses for the same marker lamps as above without the black mounting bases.
Fourthly, a perfect USED 4x4 fan shroud.
and lastly, a couple of small containers of trim mounting clips, upper and lower.

Looks like the motor home and the dump truck will be sporting new roof marker lenses!

Talking

No tow hooks?

No wonder we can't find truck parts over in Michigan. They are all in Minnesota!

Nice find!

Hey Kevin. I though the woodgrain dash came out as part of the Cheyenne Super package starting in 71. Maybe it's an rare prototype you can install on your rare 3 door burb. All kidding aside, I'd like to see a pic of the bezel but I doubt it's a 67/68 unit. Where is the wiper and headlight holes on it? if its a 67/68 they should be on the left with a choke hole on the right.

67/68 were not the only years to get the silver/black bezels. I have no idea what the criteria was, but my old '70 CST/20 Longhorn has silver instead of chrome...original too.

I have 2 NOS Woodgrain Dashes and both have the silver paint and not the chrome. They are 71-72 only for the Supers. I think for some reason that is what GM used as replacement dashes. I was going to use one in my super but I may just have the origanal rechromed. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

and now to un-gloat.

I didn't look in all the boxes of the roof light assemblies. One of them wasn't a 1313A it was a 1113A. So I only have 4 and 1 odd ball that I hope I can swap at NAPA for the right one. The 1313A lights are made by Federal Mogul and they must have made them for GM too because the GM part number is on these lenses also.

My years working on these 67-72's is really starting to show with this answer but sometime in the mid 80's, GM changed over and made their "older model" replacment items cheaper. I ran into this first hand on these dash bezels being painted instead of chrome and also the rear Cheyenne tailgate panel. GM quit using chrome letters and made them with painted silver letters. And no way could you tell without looking at the part because they were all the original part numbers. After that I had my GM dealer call around and locate another dealer to physically check his stock for a chrome dash bezel.
GM is still doing that today on older stuff. I ordered new '87 PU chrome trim taillight light lens recently and they too were not chrome but a dull anodized aluminum. Ask about their Genuine GM Parts quaility and the dealer just says another item that is close to being discontinued.
