Simple question

4spd manual truck transmission, whats the process for removing the shifter to replace the bushing and cup? I see two pins but I can't get em out, whats the trick?

pull the pins don't hit it in....

Ok, the pins are flush with the housing, what do I need to pull them out?

There is a tool to take the shifter retainer out. If you don't have the tool. You need to push the retainer in and twist in one direction or the other. It only needs to go down an 1/8 inch and will only turn 10 degress or less. Once past the pins it should pop up. If not have someone pull up when you get it past the pins. It should not take a lot of force to release it retainer.

if you have enough room u can use a pipe wrench that it my trick tool that i used a # of times it works great. you can push down and the pipe wrench will grip the collar while u turn it.
