Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture

the reason you do not see emblems on these trucks is because they were air brushed out so they could use a 64 truck for a 65 or 66 ad . i have some ads that show a truck from 64 and the same truck same picture used in 66 they would air brush the emblem in . i guess they saved on picture cost? mike

Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture

Skinnier ones got used up on the Schwinns. I was surprised when my 2003 GMC 3/4 ton came with 6.5" wide rims.

I was thinking the same thing. This is the only one I've seen besides in a movie.

Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture

The custom cab stepside seems unfinished with the trim stopping at the cab.

Skinny tires made for easier turning when power steering wasnt available (or installed)

Agian, it is another pre production photo used that was not accurate. The same red custom cab long bed stepside is shown in the 1964 Chevy pickup brochure with the side moldings air brushed off. Many '65 and '66 adveristment photos show white steering wheels, which was a '64 feature, 65's and 66's used fawn steering wheels.

Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture

It’s hard to imagine, there was actually a time you could just walk in to any Chevy dealer and buy a brand new 60-66 truck in any color and body style you wanted, with a 327 stick shift if desired. Rust free, dent free, mint condition rockers, windshield header, and cab corners, with any deluxe trim you might desire – for about the same money it now takes to buy a rusted and dented restoration candidate!

Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture

Hey, that's my truck! Wohoo! Last one, on the bottom! Just kidding... but it could be. Is that Mt. Hood, on the way to WA? Or maybe Mt. St. Helens? 1966? Not enough detail to tell if it's 64, 5, or 6. Anyone see any clues? GREAT PIC!

..............and that's exactly what I did. I ordered my new '64 C-10 w/ 283, 3-speed manual with overdrive, Custom Cab, and the first chrome dock bumper the dealer sold.

Re: factory 65 chevy assembly picture

I was just thinking yesterday that we need nostalgic pics.
Pics, Brochures, anything about these trucks from the past.

Here's my contribution:
